Tyler in the off-season i would like the hawks to go out get some bigger more physical wingers that could help on the forecheck which is lacking ala Columbus for example, and the team needs more speed. Just a couple of observations so far that the hawks need to address in the offseason. Tyler any word on if hawks have inquired about cam morrison who somebody mentioned in the previous blog. LW 6-2 200lbs from notre dame.
- Scott1977

Hard to argue with you there, Scott. I wouldn't be opposed to add some size, but guys with that size/speed combo.

Nope. I haven't heard anything about Cam Morrison. To be honest, I don't know much about him. Sounds like there will be some interest with that size and consistent production over 4 years at Notre Dame.

I questioned if this would happen after a 4-1 loss in the series opener and we even had our own PatShart predict the exact lines that Colliton would go with. And for the most part, Pat and Colliton were correct in these moves.-Tyler Typing

Sort of scary when Hockeybuzz posters are as smart as the Blackhawk coach.

And Tyler, you are correct. What defenseman did Keith have the most success with during his career? A big, physical stay at home defenseman. So why saddle him with the offensively gifted kid?

- scottak

Ha. It is a little scary.

I hear ya. On paper, Keith and Murphy should be your top pairing, however, they haven't played well consistently enough.

I think Keith will be helping bring along younger players from here on out. I think he and Mitchell could be a strong pairing next year if Mitchell's all-around skills tranlsate well into the NHL game.

Oh I'm with you LAHawk.

In a way, CHI shot themselves in the foot with Lehner this year:

A) CHI had him under contract and he could have extended him but opted to trade him. Really thought he was the Hawks' goalie for the next 3-5 years. They didn't see it that way and we'll see how much Lehner ultimately signs for.

B) Because CHI had Lehner and Crawford and both stayed healthy all year, the Hawks didn't get to see what Delia and/or Lankinen can do in an extended look.

I'm a Delia guy, but I also an intrigued by Lankinen.

There's a lot of uncertainty moving forward in the Hawks net, however, I think the most likely scenario is you see Crawford back on a 2-year deal with Delia, Lankinen, or Subban backing him up as Bowman tries to figure out what he has in his next wave of tenders.

A less likely scenario - but one that I wouldn't be overly shocked if it happened - would be if the Hawks trade for a higher-tier younger goalie like Georgiev or Demko to reinforce the future in net in Chicago.

Ok Tyler what are giving up to get demko or georgiev ?

Hey Ty! First of all, thanks for another great writeup.

On the point I bolded, I would have thought so too in terms of the team's desire to extend him, but it seems like comments he made in season had him indicating there would be no team friendly deals.

I imagine the Hawks had conversations with his agent that suggested as much which likely scared them off.

That being said, I don't necessarily have an issue with it as Lehner's play seemed to wane a bit as the season went on and he really didn't look great last night either.

I think what will skew the end result is a flat cap. Before Covid happened, my guess is Lehner was betting on himself and thinking he could get a $7-8M deal as a UFA at the end of the season.

How many teams are going to be able to do that now with the Cap staying flat. Pretty sure he won't be able to stay in Vegas with Fleury already getting $7M for 2 more years...that and they only have about $6M in Cap room from the looks of it with some other spaces to fill.

And so he is. Didn't watch a lot of NJ hockey this season. There was the game they embarrassed us but don't remember him.

Is he a decent wing on a bad team?

+/- isn't the be all/end all but his wasn't good though neither were the Devils.

I agree with some of the posters pining for some wings who can play better defense, a bit more physical, puck control style but I don't really know anything about him.

I know people were pining for Andreas Athanasiou (big, fast, scored 30 goals) but the games I was able to see vs the Oil he was pretty invisible...and you know something's up when the Wings who are pretty bereft of talent were willing to move on from him.

As if the two losses weren't enough to bother me, "My Goal Light" is turning on without me pushing the button.

I tried to find the original company that was Chicago based when the Gaol Light was only sounding the Blackhawk horn, then later expanded to 30 teams....in the Chicago suburbs, but I believe they sold the company to Fan Fever.

I tried to find an email there but bio luck.

I KNOW you all have one of these!

You ever heard of a haunted one?

I don't know if vibrations are setting it off, obut I went to one site and found out there is a button on the bottom you can hit instead of the remote...

My wife is threatening throwing it out as it is randomly turning one, and I jump to my feet and start humming Chelsea's dagger and well, you know....

Vegas won their games at home and now its Chicago's turn. Take advantage of the home ice advantage and make it work. Coach Q was a master at that when he was the bench boss.

Tyler Cameron: Down 0-2... but it's not all bad

Not only did the Blackhawks make some lineup tweaks in game #2, but they also tweaked their game.

The Hawks looked better in the first and second periods. They were more aggressive with the D not only holding the offensive line but jumping up in a way that we haven't seen in the last few years.

Here are a few thoughts on game #2's OT loss, as well as to get you set up for the weekend:

- Tyler Cameron

I would really like Boqvist if he plays too be paired with deHaan or Maatta and told be aggressive managing and creating with the puck feel like it's a waste that he's paired with Keith

I would really like 1 forward to cover the opposing forward who's sitting back side down low on CC

I'd also like the 2 other forwards to play tighter to the opposing dmen but close enough to take away the cross ice pass

The last 2 things they are doing what i consider a half ass job

Does Scott Powers say where an .890 save percentage lands in rankings?

Crawford is one of the big dollar guys, is he not? Can he be called out?
- PatShart

why don't you tweet him and ask....he laid out the metrics of a very poor 4 year trend of the giving up way to many shots and leading the league in high danger chances against...given this you want to continue lay 0-2 at the feet of crawford...I don't care...

Dach should be the sweetener to get rid of Seabrook's contract. Then add Kubalik to unload Toews. Just think of all the glorious cap space the Hawks would have.

First. Thanks TC. Nothing wrong with Crow, especially since he "had covid" . Not enough scoring, that is what is wrong now.

not enough possession and team defense...thats the story of this series and previous 3 years...

Ok, I apologize

I will never ever ever ever ever ever say that Crawford let in a soft goal. I will join you in condemning anyone who had the audacity to say that it was a puck "he should have stopped". Because no such thing exists

If he is ever scored on, it is because of everyone else's fault and/or a perfect shot that George Vezina himself would never have stopped
