Tracks with what I thought. He looked 'off' throughout the game. Boqvist is jittery with the puck (to my eyes), though understandable. Right now, he's the opposite of a young Hammer that just ate hard hit after hard hit rather than throw the puck away or get out of the way of a speeding train.

I think where I seem to be missing something is on Murphy--I read lot of negativity on him, yet I'm simply not seeing it. He looks fine to me.

DaHaan biffed on more than a couple of passes, wonder if he injured his shoulder again.

Nylander’s play has been less than ideal. Hopefully he learns from this post season or Stan trades him for a decent return, like Georgiev.

You think just Nylander straight up would do it?

So who's in net Tuesday for vegas? I'm thinking maf is back in net.
- Bhawks2585

Gotta be but either is tough to beat. Their tandem reminds me of Crow/Emery. Not one or the other you’d wanna face. (frank) it, one game at a time and win this (frank)ing thing. Down 3-0 before and prevailed, let’s do the damn thing!

Nylander's apparent (or perceived) lack of effort is what concerns me.
- grinder10

Seems to me he shows good effort at times. He engages for pucks on the boards at times. This is better than earlier in the season.

But he does not always keep moving. There was a sequence (I think it was in the D zone) where he stayed away from the play for a long time looking for an outlet pass.

My opinion is that he is one level up from earlier in the season but still one level below where he needs to be. That's why he is back on the 4th line. Sitting one game like Boqvist did might help.

Honestly rather face Lehner. Maf faced a lot more high quality chances and played really well.

I really like deHaan but think you’re right. He took a shoulder to shoulder shot at full speed and think it popped his confidence and thus in his mind if nothing else.

The Rangers aren’t dealing from a position of strength and they’ve established Georgiev as their #3 so it’s possible.

I'd take that trade in a second.

Same but one game. Doesn’t matter who it is. Same game plan. Press hard and pepper. Possession hockey, not dump & chase. Do that strictly one game at a time and we’ll prevail. Easier said than done.

Like your take. He seems to want to do Kane things like cherry pickin’ on a stretch but he hasn’t earned that way of play. He’s no Cat, let alone Kaner. Can’t bury one timers, can’t keep a d-man off balance, and can’t thread the needle when needed. He seems to be a legend in his own mind and needs a wake up call. Juniors is absolutely littered with guys like this. They either find their way or they find themselves bagging groceries or selling used cars. Your move Alex.

I'd like to see Nylander grind more and contribute something when he's not scoring. Just not seeing it.

I'd sure love to have another Ladd-type player on the roster...or two. The Hawks could use a bit of 'heavy' in the lineup.

So sick of the 9:30 slot. We’ve had more than our fair share, no?

Hjalmarsson spent 2 years in Sweden after he was drafted, then spent the next 2 years split between Rockford and the Hawks, with most of the games played in Rockford. When Hjalmarsson made the Hawks as an every day player he was 3 years older than Boqvist is now. The difference between ages 19 and 22 is significant for an NHL d-man.

Pacioretty was fined $2,500 for his slash on DeBrincat.

Based on his $10,500,000 draw for this season...yeah, that will really deter him going forward.

True. However, I'm simply looking at new, young Hawks D vs new young Hawks D playing on the roster--rather than the development leading up this point. I get the age difference. I guess the major point is ... that Boqvist could likely benefit from additional development.
