Hopefully that dumb ass comes to realize how he can be a game changer. - VanHockeyGuy
I think people over value him . I know one thing he will not be getting a big raise. Not with Canucks at least.

I never said it was the defenseman, I thought they played well as a unit, I said defense is a concern, hence, why I don't think it is a good idea to play another weak defensive forward in Gaudette.
Edit: It was an ill-advised skate by Hughes, but I am not going to pick on him, as it offends people.😁 - Reubenkincade
It's the accepted risk when he's on the ice. In order to allow him to be as dynamic as he is the forwards need to be aware of him and cover for him.
The occasional defensive lapse from him is fine if he keeps producing at the rate he has. |

Gaudette needs to be in there somewhere, he’ll provide secondary scoring even if he’s a bit of a defensive liability. - LeftCoaster
He's looked a bit like a pylon. I'm all for it and hope he shows something different, but the kid didn't raise his game in the last series. |

Eklund mentioned Canucks sniffing on other Granlund possibly, I can only imagine the tears in here. |

Probably a cheap price for a potentially strong return, but there's already so many forwards... |
|
|
|
That’s nothing to do with the defensemen, it’s poor defensive coverage by the forwards. Same as the OT goal. Hughes goes for an ill advised skate when the first line is on and no one fills that gap...boom, game over. - LeftCoaster
the attention to covering him so far in the bubble has stood out to me so far. obviously there was a bit of a slip up on OT but ive been pleasantly surprised how well forwards have been covering his rover skates and pinches so far |

i wouldnt even call his skate ill advised. he was a solo forechecker while keeping pressure when the team was changing and nearly came up with the puck. it was those joining the play that needed to read it better |

Well, he’s a center. He’s not in the same class goal scoring wise. More of a 200-foot guy. I don’t love the fit personally, was just thinking of the hens when i read it. |

JB finally getting his man
I don't see the Canucks trading for any forwards at all. There's already a log jam, plus with the potential for Hoglander to come over next year and Podkolzin the year after, why add more in their way?
I see them shipping off Sutter and JV this summer. |

i couldve sworn he was a winger. doesnt nachville have johansen bonino and turris as their top 9 centers? i wonder which guy's down year will affect his ufa worse between him and tt
edit forgot about duchene |

Which goes back to my original comment about this goal against, the defense, in this case the forward group, need to cover that hole created, whenever a defenseman moves up like that.
I know it is a touchy subject 8n here whenever a play gets criticized from one of the better players on the team, but I was pretty clear, that it should have been covered by a forward, yet, I still believe it was an ill-advised play.
So far I have been pretty thrilled with the team effort, a few glitches along the way are bound to happen. |

Maybe in Nashville, but he was a center in Minni for years. |

I agree, I'm happy with the way they've played thus far. The Canucks arguably played their best game of the 3 last night, yet they lost because the Blues finally kicked it into gear, now it's going to get serious, I just hope the lead Van has in the series is enough to finish them off. |

You think? I think they played the worst game so far. They were slow and scrambled the majority of the game.
I think the loss will snap some more urgency into them and we'll see a better result tonight. |

I don;t see it either, I saw Eklund and thought of the sweet baby hens on this board. But, he's a UFA so it would not be a trade scenario. |

The players said the same that they needed to play a lot better. It wasn't that hey we tried but it didn't bounce our way. Changes need to be made and it should start with LE getting the boot. |

"We knew they were going to come. They're the defending Cup champs for a reason. They know what it takes to win and they definitely weren't going to shy away from a fight. ... But I can't wait to play again tomorrow." -Bo

Either way, he said the other week (can't find the quote) he's not looking at signing any UFAs, and he feels they have everything in-house right now to push players up and out. |

5 on 5 the chances were a lot more even than they have been the last 2, if the Nucks got a couple more PPs I think they probably win that game.
That's more from looking at the stats though, you're right that under the eye test there were a few lapses, but they never lasted too long. Nothing like when they went like 12 minutes without a shot in game 2. |
