Would probably be better than what was actually happening, which was nothing.
I get that these two guys don't need to speak every day, or every week.
But how are there not meetings maybe once a month to discuss the development of prospects? Like, hey Ralph, this is how Asplund and Borgen and Brysen and Mittelstadt are coming along, is there something you'd like to see from these guys to help them get promoted?
All the GMs and all the coaches should be doing these meetings. Having Jason Botterill as the universal conduit makes things like Scandella for a 4th for Frolik, so, good (frank)ing riddance. - TheSabresTaco
Synergy. When you have synergy, you don't need to speak.

were they speaking different languages with botts as the interpreter? - Michael Pachla
I mean, Ralph does have a book published in German. Maybe he was testing Tayls commitment to synergy? |

can you teach character?...
lindy always talked about the core guys "playing out of character"...they never really did...at least on a consistent basis - Michael Pachla
I don't think you can teach it
I mean staff had the frame and body to be a vaive or a probert
instead he was a floater |

Maybe not, but I hope something can be taught to these young kids. - Buff36
interesting point in that lysowski interview about appert...says he's probably more of a development coach stressing individual skills than a systems coach |

Without knowing all the details, there's likely an organizational structure in place. You two report to me. I doubt Ralph was ignoring Tayls' phone calls.
Just another piss poor strategy employed by a glorified scout.
And you know what, I totally buy what Lance is saying.
Because it's right in line with Kevyn Adams' wish to have a "Flat Organization"
This org has a tendency to bring up the flaws of the previous regime every time a new body comes in. - TheSabresTaco
interesting part about ralph where he's said to be more than willing to take on a larger role within the organization...lysowski even mentioned helping the pegulas on the business side since he did so with southampton |

Yeah, I know he was pressed about it and really didn't cave, but there's no (frank)ing way he's not helping with player personnel, at least this year. And who knows, maybe they pay him to consult with their business too in the forever offseason.
He claims his sole focus is coaching, but I'm not buying it.

But you still need the character guys to lead the group. Yes, jack may have that character, heart and Fortitude... there are too many staffords...
Look at the pens for example, Phil the hotdog wouldn’t be classified as a character guy but under the leadership of that group, he thrived.
And look at the pens when Sid was getting his start they surrounded him with Roberts, Recchi, Gonchar, Leclair, Guerin and protected him with Laroque (I know face punchers aren’t a thing any more)... the bottom line, who are the grizzled character guys that have been brought in to help jack lead this group.... Okposo? Moulson? Scandella? Pommer and Gio? And I think Gio has eluded to this group not having much heart and fortitude...
This team has needed an infusion of heart for a decade.... |

He had an MBA, not a communications degree.
Besides, he was too busy making brilliant deals for Frolik and Simmonds |

I’m still absolutely fine sending Ralph upstairs and bringing in a gallant or Lavi to coach... I’d say Lindy too but sadly that ship had sailed... are there any playoff coaches that get canned in an over reaction move? |

I don't even see a reason to discuss it. It's just not happening. Not this year, anyway. |

For me, unless Ralph shows he can coach a winning team on the ice, I look at him with the same skepticism that I do the rest of the organization.
His constant speeches only matter if they produce on ice results, meaning a winning team. Otherwise, it's bluster. |

For the most part, coaches play the safest players the most and lean on them.
Ralph employed a very safe, defensive, often boring style of play.
Until I see him actually change that style of play and not lean on similar, vanilla, boring players, I have a difficult time believing the team will end up where it needs to be, and to get there, they need talented players that are not vanilla and safe in terms of how they play. |

I know some hate him unreasonably or at least more than most, but I'm about here.
Skeptic, but cautiously optimistic, because that's just how I prefer to be. |

It can, and I think it's fair, but he also assisted in building up a trash soccer team. In a sport he had no experience in. I think you employ the same values and ideals that made you a successful manager there and use them here. Not saying he's some super scout, but installing a system and group of guys who CAN pick those players is as much or more important.
Who's to say he doesn't have a hand in building their front office now? I'd bet my junk that he has a ton of say in the structure of this office. For better or worse.

Run and gun works well in the regular season but does nothing in the playoffs.
The teams that defend well are the ones left standing at the end of the year. |
