Donskoi May have gotten a year or two too much term but was a solid FA signing. Nichuskin on a one year deal to come back from the KHL to be one of the best defensive forwards in the NHL at $850K a year.

Kadri for Barrie and Kerfoot looks great.

I knew Kadri would not be dealt inside of the division so I never even gave a second thought at that.

I was told we had enough bottom 6 wingers and didn’t need Donskoi (Sbroads was with me on the Donskoi train)

I’ve been talking about Burakovsky as a buy low option the past couple of offseasons and Sakic got it done.

Sakic is really good, and was trained how to do teh GM job for several years before getting it.

Also helps havign McKinnon on teh best contract in teh entire league

Would have been tough for Buffalo to match what Vegas gave up, especially since I’m sure they would have had to give a premium for an intra division trade.

The Habs got their 2C in Nick Suzuki and Tatar (whom had sold underlying numbers as a top 6 winger) for Patches.

Both teams did well in that deal
