Burakovsky for a 2nd rounder

Donskoi May have gotten a year or two too much term but was a solid FA signing. Nichuskin on a one year deal to come back from the KHL to be one of the best defensive forwards in the NHL at $850K a year.

Kadri for Barrie and Kerfoot looks great.

Those moves I referenced were just from this year.

But yes if we considering full body of work. Drafting Rantenen at 10, Makar at 4, trading Duchene for Byram and Girard, taking Newhook at 16.

He acquired Grubauer and Orpik’s cap hit for a 2nd rounder as well.

Nathan Mackinnon being the best player in the world definitely helps.

Don’t you find it interesting how each one of our d-men realistically had average to below average statistics for long stretches at a time however as a team we defended in top 10 in the league ?

I attribute that to coaching and the LOG line.

If you’re simple remedy is to find a Center that scores more points but gives up more goals I struggle to find the net impact.

The Sabres will be more entertaining but still suck and miss the playoffs.

We need to continue to defend well and score more goals.

Just ask Washington, Toronto, Florida, and the Rangers. All teams can score in the uppper percentile in the league yet are getting taken to school by the likes of Columbus, NYI, and Carolina.

Now Carolina is getting beaten by a Bruins team that happens to defend better then they do and essentially play the same game at a higher level.

Either score more Or just blame it all on a backup goalie. The biggest problem wasn’t the system it was when it broke down the goaltenders were left hanging big time. Also I can’t remember seeing so many goals deflected into their own net.

One of the most interesting parts of the Adams zoom:

“We kind of started over,” Adams said. “I want to give Jeremiah Crowe and Jason Nightingale a huge amount of credit for putting the process in place and working off the calendar in a short time, getting our process right on how we’re going to go about things from the top of the draft all the way through till our seventh-round picks.

They took all of their scouting rankings and started over again to set their priorities from low ceiling and safe to high ceiling, good underlying analytics and maybe that guy takes 3 years to come over.

Maybe, just maybe, they'll draft a real impact player beyond the 1st round.

I know we talked about this too, but this is also pretty interesting.

“We’re looking very closely at the players we have, how they fit together, what they do for us day in and day out,” Adams said. “It’s really important to put a team on the ice that can match up from (forward lines) one through four, (defensemen) one through six on the back end, and in net.

“Our team right now has a lot of really good players. What maybe hasn’t been exactly right is how they all fit together. I’m working on that. I’m thinking a lot about that. I’m talking to a lot of different people. I’m just trying to find out how we put that together, not just from what the lineup looks on paper but how they ultimately sync up together.”

to not sit there and assume everything is fine (thanks jason) and to really actually care about line balance and trying to build a team wide chemistry instead of jamming a bunch of random parts together.

I think he's right, we have some talented players, and I think if they were supplemented with the correct players instead of Michael (frank)ing Frolik and Vlad (frank)ing Sobotka, we'd be somewhere. The guy traded a 2C and then assumed TWICE that an unestablished prospect could just.. jump in. Blow me, buddy.

A Hart Finalist went one pick after Sam. I do not understand this argument at all.

Sam is a good top 6 player, he should be retained however if he can be used in a package to acquire a 2C or top 4 d-man it should be considered.

Picking Leon over Sam was the first domino to fall, the lighting of the European powder keg as you will, from that move started a series of moves that dug us further and further into the ground.

Hopefully Adams can dig us out

He was the first forward taken and you think a 40- 50 player can't be replaced
