John Hayden has size too, how did he work out? This signing will be another Bowman fail and Morrison will be AHL fodder. - DarthKane

Played a few games on the same junior team as Dylan Sikura 6 or 7 years ago. What more reason do you want for the signing? - RickJ
He played a couple years with Dennis Gilbert too at Notre Dame.

Great news! Always great to snag a former 2nd rounder.
I don't know much about him but on paper he looks good.
@Theo - any intel? - Tyler Cameron
Still learning more about Morrison but so far he seems to be a good signing to bulk up the forward depth. Not outstanding NCAA numbers but still pretty good for a power forward who is also reliable on special teams.
Initial comparable could be Bryan Bickell at his peak. Not going to be a big point producer but brings more value as a huge winger who can cycle, play heavy, and make a living along the boards and in the slot.
Likely a multi-year project but you never know. Don't want to get too high on Morrison yet as Drew LeBlanc and Matt Carey were also highly sought after. |

He should have waiting and signed Morrison to the league minimum. - DarthKane
A lot NHL suitors is what they are saying...since he had UFA status. |

The difference is this kid was drafted 40th overall and the other 2 were undrafted (I think). Scouts saw something they valued on the skill side.
And if nothing else, it may finally be an admission on the part of the Blackhawks that they are too small to compete effectively, especially up front. |

Nd lists him at 6-3 214 - kmw4631
my notes are from 2016 or before so he grew.
LOL, I am lucky I had all this Covid-19 time to go back over the stats on 500 prospects I have in there for 2020...so many were still 150 pounds and 5' 8.5 from the first time I saw them 2-3 years ago...I just don't have the passion to empahsizeand change them once the initially are there, I have more important things to dd like post here, with incorrect spelling... |

I read three or four other scouting reports On him. One of the knocks on Hayden was a skating and it sounds like Morrisons a pretty solid skater for a power forward. Also it sounds like he doesn’t take any penalties. Those are the two big issues with Hayden he takes a lot of penalties and he was a slow skater. He does really feel I need in our prospect pool. Who is our biggest bottom six defensive player? Kampf? I just checked and our fourth line checking defensive line doesn’t have a player over 200 pounds. |

Very good point, Rick. Thanks!
Speaking of NCAA free agents, I was hoping the Hawks would have signed center Marc Michaelis out of Minnesota State but the Canucks snagged him. Same with Nico Sturm last year out of Clarkson (now with the Wild). Both are natural centers with solid 200-foot play.
Will be interested to see where Ryan Shea signs as he's no longer Blackhawks property and is free to sign wherever he wants. |

Canes just went from up 2-0 with 12 + minutes left to down 2-4 with just less than 6 left
Out-shot by Bruins 0-15 in the third. |

Damn Carolina not a shot on goal in the 3rd period, only 2 minutes left
Tuukka who? |

Halak did let in two bad ones - but that’s it.
Of course, don’t need to make many saves if the opponent doesn’t get any shot on net. |

I question the timing of this deal. Did Stan really need to sign Morrison now? - DarthKane
Didn't Troy Murray go from signing to playing in playoffs for Chicago? |

Size doesn't matter as much as compete level and defensive awareness. I'd much rather have Kampf, Highmore, and Hagel on the 4th line than Hayden.
Great intel on Morrison, i.e. skating ability and discipline. |

College is the perfect place for big boys to turn into mobile men that CAN see and play high pace NHL style with grit.
They keep turning up on all teams nowadays, out of college, no buzz, but they fit the NHL dynamic as they get stronger and positional strategic. |

I agree, the way they leaned away from a 50 50 puck when pressure was imminent vs Vegas is very disturbing |

Hoping he can contribute in the bottom six with a couple of seasons. Still a crapshoot since he wasn't one of the Avs top prospects, but he could sure fill a need on the Hawks if he develops - grinder10
