I bet a hundred on them two seasons ago to win it all, at 16-1. I don't bet often, which is a good thing, because when I do, I'm a (frank)ing degenerate and I always lose. Betting on the Leafs, to win or lose, is a pure degenerate move. - Zezel

I bet on tiger Woods a couple weeks ago at 30-1 and he was looking great after the 1st hole. He bombed after that and it was a quick $100 down the tube. - bryant

We’ll be better next year for sure.
Trade Freddie if we can sign Lehner
But we need another real steady D and they could be close, we gave up so many easy ones this year ( not always the defensemans fault ) |

Lehner will cost the Leafs MAF type contract cap wise IMO.
cap wise it might be better to hang on to Andersen |

Andersen was paid like an upper tier goalie (at the time) hasn’t been able to perform in the playoffs.
And Willy played 2C on the 5th game of a series finale. Tough to insert him into that aspect of a game and expect anything different. Also adding johnsson into game 5 and hasn’t played in over 6 months is a tough aspect.
I don’t blame Keefe for trying new things but it also probably killed them in the game 5. - bryant
Ive never seen a coach make changes like that on an elimination game. |

Andersen is good from nov-feb maybe March.
Need a goalie to play well in the playoffs, and so far andersen hasn’t taken the next step and played better then the opposing goalie.
It’s been 4 years and I’m kinda getting to the point of trading him and see who else can step up, because he hasn’t been him in critical games.
I also said early to put him on a short leash, and play Campbell. He let the softie in game 1 and played great game 2.
After that he didn’t win a game for the leafs and let a few softies in. I’m not against regular season andersen but he’s missing that killer instinct in the playoffs. - bryant
This is probably the best play. Not sure why our coaches don't do that...especially when we had McIll. And I have confidence in Campbell, he's played well for us....when he's played.
Play the hot hand until it's not hot and then let the other one play until he's not hot. Healthy competition. |

Trying to remember the last time that our defence was some what dependable. Looks like '93. Wonder if Ellett is still in game shape. |

I have no idea how much, I don’t mind FA but better D will make any goalie look better so I’m game for whatever helps us win...trade Freddie and try to get cheaper if need.
Everyone thinks Lehner’s the new King, but Freddie being gone and this same team I don’t think it would have mattered with injuries to our 2 main D - Mitch - Tavares. JMO |

Have you watched any playoff games?
Big Game Ander7en <<< Hutchinson.
How many more whiffs does he need in big games before some people open their eyes. You cannot go into the playoffs with him. - Aetherial
I have watched the playoffs.
I'm not denying Andersen let's in a softie every once and a while, I just see glaring holes in our team that are currently worse than his softies.
I think if Dubas was proactive, he could get Andersen signed to a deal with the same Cap hit as his last. That would be good for us because with better D and swapping a few lazy wingers for more responsible ones, Andersen's numbers would be much better.
Plus, trading him later would have more value with some term and a decent Cap hit.
Plus, plus...who else is out there that isn't going to fetch a Bobrovsky deal and then give us Bobs sh1t numbers?? Please, can someone answer that???
We need to save money so we can fix the roster. Which cheap goaltender will do that for us?
We know what we have with Andersen. |

Fix the shïtty-ass defence and maybe you’ll think he’s a better goalie?
Ever wonder why Korpisalo and Merzlikins were nobodies before they went to the BJ’s? And notice how Bobrovski sucks since he left the BJ’s?
Notice a pattern here??? - Tanooki
(frank)ing this.
Edit: let's trade Andersen and pay Korpisalo $7M a year.

I’ve put up proof on here before, he handled top 4 mins well this year.
He can’t be the 3rd best D man, as he was this season. But at 2 million a season to be the 4th best D on the team? Yes that’s a value contract you want to keep.
Mirtle just put an article with him in it today as well, plenty of analysis proving he’s a capable defender and at 2 million is a steal. - Santo_44
You're missing the point entirely (as usual). The Leafs defence already sucks. Holl does not even sniff the top four on a good team, and does not even get in the lineup on a blue line like Boston's. The reason you keep harping on about his "value" contract is the exact problem with the team - the lack of balance. There is too much $ allocated to the forwards. You and Mirtle and Dubas can look at arcane stats all you want. The fact is the Leafs team defence was poop. Holl was a big part of that, and he was also not at all effective in his top four role against Columbus. |
