Bill,

In your column today you wrote "Make no mistake, however: JVR is in the lineup to be a goal-scoring threat ..."

You must know this is really simplistic. In playoff hockey, the blocks, stick checks and hits will outweigh someone who maybe brought a little more offense in games when play was less tight. I really like Joel Farabee, and I hope he will get bigger and stronger, but the Flyers already have too many smaller forwards who were great in the regular season, but who have been totally neutralized in the tighter playoff style game.

So, make no mistake, what JVR brings to the line up is a really long reach, a good stick and he is 6'3" and 217. Farabee in 164, with shorter reach and has played exactly two serious playoff games.

I would be shocked if AV didn't try to find a way to get JVR more involved instead of subbing him out.

The Flyers were extremely lucky that the Habs did not score in game 3.

And #21 would should have definitely had some assists on their goals.

I couldn't disagree with this more. Why is it a poor match up for the Flyers? It's not. It's probably the easiest match up they will see in the playoffs. The Flyers simply are not dictating play and not matching the Habs work ethic and intensity so far. It looks to me like they have taken the Habs lightly and now realize they're in a fight which is what the playoffs always are.

Hi, I'm MJL. I know what I say is stupid, but I can't help it.

Literally every media person who previewed this series said that the Canadiens are a tough matchup for the Flyers, because they are a possession team that has great team speed, and thrives on the counterattack. They get players to take bad penalties in the process.

What has happened in this series? Team speed and attack style has lead to turnovers and require that the Flyers work for 60 minutes in order to compete. The season series was a great predictor of the series. Flyers have to blanket the ice, play aggressive and keep games low scoring to win. When everyone on the ice isn't focuses on the 200ft game, the Flyers liabilities will cost them.

You have a reading comprehension issue. What I said is that it is the easiest match-up the Flyers will face in the playoffs if they move on. Every other team is a better team.

Hey its the playoffs. Who'd have thought that you'd have to work for 60 minutes in a game!
Flyers don't need to keep it low scoring. They need to increase scoring and increase offensive pressure.

Perhaps you should stick with what you're good at. Bashing Scott Laughton.

# 2 pick in draft, and 7 million dollar contract scratched in favor of Bunnaman. How sad is that. My god.

A team that is averaging 1 goal per game in this series, takes out a player who has 30 goal NHL seasons, in favor of a player who couldn't score in a whorehouse with a fist full of hundreds. Speaks volumes.

I don't know what that guy did to AV. I thought he showed significant improvement and hustle.

So sad. And he had actually “beaten” cancer not that long ago (or so they thought). I’m shocked and saddened. RIP, Dale.
