Canucks made a good step this year but they are toast. They need to replace at minimum 4 players: stecher, virtanen, beagle and loui.
Loui and beagle because of their horrific contracts and replacement level results. Virtanen because he has run out of chances and is the biggest douche/ slacker on the team. Personally I think that in the last 2 losses the forwards are more to blame than the D. You're not wrong that it would help to impose on their forwards a bit more though.

Honestly, I agree with your choices. I do still have hope Horvat + JTM + EP + QH might have enough to push back. They need PP goals. Only chance they have.

I would counter with why would you want to bring back the current roster?
If you sign Markstrom for 5-6 million then who do you absolutely need to bring back?
I heard people mention on here a few months ago say Jake is getting 3 mil and Gaudette getting 2.5 . Really?
I imagine Tanev will be brought back at a reasonable price. I am not sure if Benn is winning that 3 RHD spot or not but he is already on contract and OJ will more than likely be sharing duties with Fantenberg. If Benn is not there then you can find a low cost RHD like Schenn.
I like Mottes drive and hustle but cmon he is not a high end fourth liner. - VANTEL
No doubt there will be changes next season for the roster. From the start, Rathbone, OJ, Hogs, to the middle of the season the Russians Tree and Podz all will be pushing for spots that upgrades but lowers cap hit.
This season's playoff battle still has some auditions left in it to see who else gets signed and at what cost.
