Should have been an unsporstmanlike conduct. Suzuki said he did it without thinking but that he shouldn't have done something like that.

If anything, I'm more surprised the Flyers players let it slide.

I'm disappointed they let it slide. The kid needs to be reminded that stuff like that isn't cool.

Yeah.

But that's low level stuff designed to get under the skin of the Flyers, especially. Just ignore it. Alert the refs, and wait for the calls.

Other than Weber, who should count as two, that team has no one remotely intimidating. If their forwards get into a physical brawl with our D, I am betting on the latter. Its also playing into the hands of the other team.

The Canadiens overall had two significant penalty calls go against them. The major _game should have been a 2+2. I think we scored on the 5th minute, so thats significant. Then there is the loss of Kotkaniemi.

The Nisky-Gallagher thing, which I frankly did not even see, should have been a 2+2. If it indeed was a cross-check to the face, it could have been a major, depending on the circumstances.

- PT21

On the Kotkaniemi hit, the right call was made. Sanheim's numbers were towards him the entire time and he hit him up high causing his head to impact the glass. The refs also had the advantage of being able to review it. They aren't going to mess up that call in that situation. Major and a game is the right call.

The Flyers top players as a whole, have come up small to this point.
- MJL

Hart being the exception in that group.

Wow. You’ve been disappointed with Matt Niskanen this season? Post season, totally get it, but this season?
- SuperSchennBros

Actually no, I posted the wrong thought there. I need to correct it and add post season to it. Thanks for pointing that out.

For the most part yes, but he was not good last night.

Clearly they think doing that stuff will get to Hart. They started running him from the first shift last night. Flyers need to push back on that, and push back hard. Ring some bells.

No, he was not. He made a big mistake on the first goal and I'm not sure he ever fully mentally recovered. Didn't look like his normal calm self most of the game.

The first goal was the shorthanded goal. More concerned about the GWG goal and the goal that was waived off.

Yes, it was pre-planned (at least the intent to get under the skins if not the actions), and utterly predictable after two shutouts.

But the reaction should also be measured. Don't lose it like Myers or (apparently) Nisky. That's not retaliation, that's walking into a baited trap.

Agreed. I'm not talking about head hunting or starting a brawl - but they need to punish them with hard hits at every opportunity and keep the front of the net clear.

I agree. It isn’t something to completely ignore or to allow to continue as some suggest.

Apologies if this has already been discussed. What was your thoughts about pulling Hart and then leaving him in after the offsides call? He clearly was not at his best last night. I thought leaving him was not the right move. In hindsight Elliott should have started the game but that was a much more difficult decision.

I thought it was fine. Although Hart was not his best, neither was Price. Hart was not the reason they lost. I don’t think it matters now. Hart should start game 6.

I thought he should've pulled him anyway - a card laid is a card played. The team as a whole needed the message as much as he needed to be removed.

There was a discussion between AV and Hart during the offside review. You could see AV look at Hart intently, but also with affection (which I guess comes from recognition of his youth). You could see him ask Hart "you ok"? and Hart nod.

I dunno if this was significant, really. He had no blame for the 4th goal.

I thought the kid responded well overall after a very weird situation.

As you said, the goals he let in afterwards were not his fault.

What did you think of the first goal?

Clearly set play. 99% of the time, a shot taken that hard from center ice is a rim-around. But it could be argued that Nisky and Hart should have been alert to the fact that rims are not directed with such force so close to the net. They would need to be more angled.

Caught napping a little?

Nice play by you guys, btw. Took advantage of your speed.

Montreal gets the puck to the net as well as any team in the league. Often there is only a tiny chance of doing anything with it once it gets there, but it’s still impressive.

Ouellet made the bounce happen on purpose for sure.

And the Flyers defensemen didn't expect it, or Armia going full speed to get the puck.

I must say, it was a pretty smart play.

Just come out and win Game 6. Nothing else has to be said.

Chip pucks deep into the corners, pound their D, get pucks to the net, and crash it.... hard. Can’t be afraid to get in on Price, the Habs have been doing it to Hart.

Lastly, what Jake did last night impressed me and I hope the team took notice. He went right for Weber, albeit it jumping on him from behind, but the message to his team was sent. I feel guys have been shying away from Weber.

Nothing like a game 5 loss to get this board excited!

Time for the leaders to step up and lead.

Hart didn't play it all as he shouldn't of. It was shot too hard.
