Apologies if this has already been discussed. What was your thoughts about pulling Hart and then leaving him in after the offsides call? He clearly was not at his best last night. I thought leaving him was not the right move. In hindsight Elliott should have started the game but that was a much more difficult decision.

This is the playoffs. The idea of the backup playing in the 2nd half of back to back games goes out the window. Unless injured, the #1 plays every game unless the coach feels he is not playing well. They were coming off of back to back shutouts.

I dunno if this was significant, really. He had no blame for the 4th goal.

Hart completely overplayed the 4th goal.

Oh, of course he will. I hope NAK gets back.
- PT21

With the player availability reasons not being reported, I have to just assume NAK is/was injured. It’s great having Raffl back.

It was a great pass to a guy all alone in front during a complete defensive breakdown. He over played it but it was a very difficult save/scenario to begin with. Not hanging that one on the goalie

Suzuki just showed great patience letting him make the first move.

He's hardly to blame, Drouin's pass came out of nowhere, forcing him to react quickly to stop a potential shot.

I agree and would have started Hart as well yesterday. I thought I heard that before yesterday he’s never started back to back games before.

This. Hart was all alone. In hindsight, maybe he should not have tried to poke for it, Braun was coming, but waiting would have been a very difficult save as well. The biggest problem was why the shooter alone there anyway.

Yep.
It was a great pass. And 99.5% of the time the forward one time's it to catch the goalie off guard. If Hart isn't aggressive there, he is way too deep in the net to have much chance. Great play by Suzuki.

Hart did not look good at all. He should have been pulled. At least 3 of the goals were weak goals. You could tell early he wasnt on his game. If AV makes the switch after the 2nd or 3rd goal, we probably make off with the win

I know others may disagree. Being up 3-1. I know he is our starter, but after two shutouts and a back to back I thought Elliot would’ve gotten a game.

I've read from Lebrun the play would be reviewed by the league.

But I have yet to see a good enough replay to form an opinion on the whole thing.

All that's known so far is that his stick hit Gallagher in the mouth.

If it was mentioned I don’t recall. Anyone else think there is something wrong with tk. Just doesn’t look himself. Wondering if he has an injury.

I was just gonna reply to you on Ek's thread about the call on Sanheim. Might as well do it here.

Everything you say there (Samheim lefty, turned to take the hit) I agree with. I also think he sold the dazed part well, given that he was on the ice a minute later.

But Kotkaniemi (Jesus, kid needs a nickname) also could have let up, and did have a second to see the #s and did (marginally but clearly) leave his skates.

Problem with calling it boarding is that its usually a major. Major + head injury (he was bleeding) = GM (no discretion).

So, Lee could have called a relatively rare boarding minor. Or even a x-check minor.

Really though, it should have been somewhere in between that and what was awarded. Problem is, there seems there is no leeway to assess a double minor if you call it boarding or cross-check minor. The presence of blood etc is not relevant unlike high-sticking.

So, one way around it would have been to call two minors: boarding+cross-check. 4 mins. Unusual, but just under the circumstances.

What do you guys think?

They gave away the game thru lapses in discipline, temporary loss of focus in net and youthful mistakes.

I guess we forget how green some of these kids really are.

He's pressing. Needs keep it simple, N-S, shoot it on net. He's making too many soft/hope plays.

Gallagher cross-checks Niskanen from behind. Definitely a penalty but a minor.

Play happens a few seconds later. Niskanen is looking for retaliation. Gallagher is just turning away from one player (I think Provorov?) and Niskanen cross-checks him in the upper body area. A little unlucky that Gallagher turned right then but definitely a penalty.

We all know he has a hearing.

On the face of it (no pun intended), not a suspendable incident imo.

BUT: He did have a similar incident with Crosby 3 years back and had a hearing then too, and got away with nothing.

I would say its 50-50

Doesn’t look good in slow motion but pretty clear he wanted to get Gallagher back with a cross check to his back or arm. He turns at the end and the result is bad
