No he was demoted, unrelated to injury. Actually to the 4rth line.

https://www.inquirer.com/...lt-carchidi-20191017.html

But they were willing to give him a chance even in spite of the fact that Hagg was playing well. Thus, coaches are willing to experiment. They are not stubborn. That was my point. That there is no obstinacy regarding JVR.

JVR actually does not set up shop there very often. He is not Leclair. He tends to float a little further up, looking for deflections first and then go to the net. How often do you see him draw a x-checking penalty, (which would be quite high if he was a blue paint pest with his size)?

Answer: almost never.

Long term thing is irrelevant. Not long is my guess. We were talking about last game though, weren't we?

Grant had his best game yesterday. Laughton, I am afraid, is well ahead of JVR right now in terms of value to the club.

JVR rarely drives to the net. That's part of the problem. He does it every blue moon, and always from the off-wing for some odd reason. He has been a bit off a floater all his career.

This is pretty funny. First thing is you're linking to an article by Sam Carchidi, who is really not a reliable source for anything on the Flyers. Secondly, the article the link took me to is from a game article written in 2019.

I am sympathetic but also my personal opinion is that this thing is overblown. It may well be because we don't have kids and I am ignorant.

Those working on Wall Street come to sleep at night but they don't feed the baby then. Otherwise, 6 days a week, they are at work for 14 hour days. Consultants have to go away to work on projects all the time and having an infant will only give you so much slack and only once or twice. Then there is the army, and those who work on oil rigs, and those who go fishing to say Alaska. The truck drivers, the guys who take RVs from place to place and so on.

You are an ER doctor, right? The 2-3 ER docs I know do these alternate shifts where they have grueling routines for a week, when they do very long shifts, and are on call throughout the night, and then the next week they have no clinical responsibilities. In the week they are on, they are essentially a ghost in the house.

These guys are doing it once in their lives, with millions of their own money at stake, and getting every amenity being handed to them in the hotel, when tens of thousands are dying.

Yes, for once you're correct, this is ignorant. So because there are other professions that also experience emotional issues with family separation, that means that NHL players should be immune to it and not have that effect them! We also know that every human being reacts the same way to each situation. Also the fact that there is a pandemic going on also removes any emotional feelings that an NHL player away from his family or a newborn should have.

I never once was homesick in my life until I had a child. I traveled for work extensively and loved seeing new places and meeting new people.

The first time I had to leave my son, he was 3 months old. I was attending a conference for a week, same as I had done each year for five years. On the first night I couldn't sleep. I kept asking my wife to send me pictures. The next day I couldn't concentrate at work and kept thinking about what they were doing, if what I was doing was worth being away, and if I could keep traveling like this. That night, someone attended a party we had for our clients with their own 3 month old and I quite literally stole their child just so I could hold them. It brought tears to my eyes (and does right now thinking about it.) I don't think I had until that point in my life experienced anything like this.

Having children quite literally changes your brain. If it doesn't, then you're a sociopath. Often we make sacrifices to ensure the betterment of our family but I'd never ever question someone who decided to choose being close to their family over any amount of money. I've turned down job offers that would double my salary at the expense of more time away. There is no price that can be paid for the time you would miss.

You can always get more money but you can't ever get more time
.

So AV for obvious reasons is being tight lipped on who is starting tonight. My heart and gut say Hart, I mean if Price can play back to back (assuming he is) the young stallion should be able to go too. Having said that, i worry the Habs (cough Domi cough) may try to run him facing elimination.

You know, I worry much more about Chiarot doing damage to someone than I do Domi. Also, Shea Weber (not because he's a douche but because he shoots pucks out of a high velocity cannon).

I think you go with Hart here. Back to back shut outs, you wonder if he's taken up residency in the collective headspace of the Canadiens. Yeah, I've really come to like Moose, but I don't want to see him in any more games than are absolutely necessary (hopefully: zero).

Yes, everyone has sacrifices it’s true.
Many moons ago my wife brought my oldest son to the hospital one night when I was on call, to have dinner together. He just turned one and that night he walked for the first time and I got to experience that, so I felt pretty blessed on the timing.

Its win/win for me. Flyers either close out the series or I win money. Its not possible for me to be upset by the outcome

Eh? Read the paragraph above the line you bolded.

And btw, I remember it being a hand, not a leg.

That was bolded during your OP, not by me.

What other teams are scratching 7 million dollar players in the playoffs?
- PLindbergh31

The Bruins scratched David Backes and his $6M salary and got to Game 7 of the SCF. What a horrible team they must be with a horrible GM.

Generally speaking, I try to avoid you, because, quite frankly, you have such a pathological combination of persistence and stupidity and insecurity. Its all good, you are just some rando on the interwebs who is obsessed with me. But this gives me a perfect opportunity to demonstrate why I ignore you and generally don't even read your posts.

You mentioned 2 things about the article, one subjective, one misleading

If only you had noticed the 3rd. That the article written in 2019 was in the regular season, and implemented by AV. And as such, would be consistent with my original statement which I quote below

"Voracek was demoted to the 3rd line early in the season"

Cool story.

Though we don't have kids (out of choice), I am not immune to their joys. I was blessed with parents who doted on me. And I love kids.

We never did hear about your reminiscences about being in Lane County during the Covid surge in WA. All I remember is that you mentioned it, and then were gone, arguably for more important reasons than posting here.

I have a friend and colleague in Mass who is also an ER doctor near a Covid outreak hotspot. At one point, 4 of the 7 ER wards were exclusively for Covid patients. It was pretty frantic. Luckily the hospital had just ordered new ventilators and had not yet disposed of the old. But as time went on, they started to avoid using ventilators.

They hospital used N95s for closer encounters and procedures like intubation, but just surgical masks otherwise. He was rather dismissive of the risk of fomite transmision (and also Remsedevir as a therapeutic). There were also, of course, strict protocols.

But I wanted to say is that they had just one infection among the medical staff , and that nurse may have been infected by her mom. This outbreak can be managed with proper vigilance.

I hope your experiences were similar.

Again, knock on wood, and not looking too far ahead, but consider how difficult it must be to game plan for the Flyers. Are they the team that hung lots of goals on very good teams like VGK and Colorado and generally engaged in high scoring games? Or are they the team of the last 2 games? Is Giroux gonna be 1LW or !c or 2C? Is Raffl going to be part of a forechecking 4rth line or a skilled 2nd?

And so on.

Was Nash never scratched? He should have been. They had a sequence of epic fails with their high profile signings in the past 15 year or so:

Drury (only so so compared to Colorado and Sabres)
Richards
Nash

Lets see how the breadman works out in the playoffs.

So, on a gameday, we are arguing about babies and coach bias and ... loser me is right in the middle of it all, as always.

Things worked out well yesterday when I logged off and returned at game time.

See you all then.

How are you gonna tell me Jake Voracek was demoted and send me a link from an article from October of last year? Aren’t we talking about Jake playing the third line in like 2 or 3, whenever that was??

The bottom line for me is, you can’t tell me something isn’t going to work, if you are unwilling to try it. You can’t tell me a coach, including Vigneault doesn’t favor players. Head coaches hold the keys to the kingdom. If you truly believe good coach aren’t capable of favoritism, I’ll raise you John Tortorella, Mike Babcock and Bill Peters. Vigneault isn’t mean spirited, at least I don’t think, but he clearly has an ego.

The context of the discussion was about JVR being demoted now, in the current playoff series and you know this. This is just another example of how you routinely fail to support misguided premises

The rest that you write is just more nonsense. I really don't care if you read my replies or not. Makes no difference to me.

If you didn't already think Eklund was clueless, he thinks of the teams down 3-1, Montreal has the best chance of coming back, like the rest of the Canadian media who are apoplectic that the Canadian based teams are an endangered species.

He said, "This series is still dead even and if not for Carter Hart its probably 3-1 Montreal going into tonight. The Flyers scorers are not scoring and until they start to the Canadiens are EVERY bit in this series....A win tonight by Montreal and EVERYTHING changes..."

Makes you wonder if the guy actually watches any of the games.
