How are you gonna tell me Jake Voracek was demoted and send me a link from an article from October of last year? Aren’t we talking about Jake playing the third line in like 2 or 3, whenever that was??
- SuperSchennBros
I was trying get you to consider explanations other than "JVR does not play or plays on lower lines because the coaches do not like him."
Towards that end, I offered you evidence of other players suffering punishments and his willingness to experiment, throughout AV's reign here. I went back to the regular season because I wanted to demonstrate this is not a new thing, but the way he has rolled in Philly.

I really don't care if you read my replies or not. Makes no difference to me. - MJL
Thank you, thank you. I have nothing against you. I just genuinely feel you are excessively argumentative and fail to follow elementary logic. Its nothing to do with your politics. I do not feel the same way about MB Flyers Fan, for example, with whom it is always a pleasure to engage.
I understand you think otherwise and this whole issue is not important to me. I often end up replying to you after 10 ignores simply because I feel bad. Now that you have cleared matters up, I will extend the ignore to all of your posts and I am glad we can amicably co-exist without confrontation.
That's not such a tragedy. On the Internet it is often the most sensible course of action.

Except we’re in the playoffs. JvR ended his season with an injury and role on the power play was effective during the early half of the season and most of his career.
I’m not concerned with Jake Voracek being scratched in October. This has nothing to do with right now. I want to improve the power play right now, today. |

I’m in between Seattle and Vancouver BC and our county is doing pretty well with Covid. We peaked in March and April and are having a small upswing in cases now but nothing bad like some places. I wear an N95 the entire shift and it’s not much fun, but it’s become just a part of work. It’s a really stressful time and the financial and social pressures on patients I’m seeing are huge. Lots of emergency visits related to substance abuse and mental health right now. We are treating Covid with dexamethasone and remdesivir in patients who get admitted with oxygen levels below 94%.
I had to take a break from here for a while, the politics in the blog replies got to be too much. I feel like we are all Flyers fans first, we have that in common and hopefully we can be respectful of everyone’s beliefs. Work is stress and Flyers and hockey talk should be a positive break and a good distraction from the news and politics and the rest. - Marc D
Hmm. I wonder if you are anywhere near Bellingham, where my brother in law works as a locksmith.
Like you, I am a doctor too. But a different kind. A new Yorker cartoon famously illustrated the difference

I do not have the moral satisfaction of helping folks in the trenches like you. But I have a surrealistic bird's eye view of the pandemic. The last two days, I read articles about whether lactate dehydrogenase and creatine kinase markers can predict the cytokine storm. I had never heard of the previous 2 before the weekend.
Your last paragraph is well taken. There is nothing more obnoxious and tiresome than the 7th Day Adventist who keeps knocking on the door or the uncle at the dinner table who keeps talking about his exploits to the uninterested or the SJW who has turned life into a crusade. My wife and I are especially cognizant of the last, as there is hardly a social or economic cause in Philly where we are not involved. (You colossal bore with the superiority complex, who do you think you are?)
At the same time, I disagree with you that we are Flyers fans first. We are human beings first and citizens and family members and so on before that: everywhere, and always.
While we have a political process, once elections are over, it crystallizes into public policy. Bureaucracies have an ideological component, depending on which party sets the agenda. But there is also a competence factor, which deserves to be judged apolitically.
If a war is fought and lost, or if there is a hurricane and the reaction not adequate, it should not be seen as partisan in pointing out deficiencies of government. I believe that we are at a time when making such an assessment is imperative, and overrides other considerations, valid though that may be. Many disagree, and I deeply respect their different viewpoints.
Sports is very unusual in that it is one of the few social actions that cuts across the like-minded clusters we otherwise socialize in. I completely understand the reaction of stirring up a hornet's nest, and we all have to do better, including and perhaps especially myself, in being able to separate competence from politics and discuss them more rationally, among the many things outside of Hockey that have always been discussed here, and be careful that the main focus of the group does not get overturned.
I understand I answered your post very obliquely, but its Game Day, and in the interest of what I said before, I will not engage today in anything except the game we are going to see, and that too at game time.
Hoping they get a victory today and are rested when they face the Isles.

Dude, I am trying to give you a line of logic that explains that JVR getting scratched is consistent with the way AV has rolled throughout the year, and with other players too.

I fail to follow elementary logic yet I routinely correct your numerous failed premises and point out your basic lack of knowledge on the fundamentals of the game of hockey, such as not knowing what a simple 1-2-2 is. Not understanding why players are trying to change lines during a sequence. Not understanding AV's systems that he employs. Not understanding that even the best defenseman in the league will occasionally get beaten in a one on one coverage. These are just a few examples. You ignore me because you're left with no other recourse and are made to look foolish and you are exposed by someone whom you claim lacks the ability to follow elementary logic. It doesn't matter if it's politics or any other subject. The end result has been the same. One of us, me, sticks to the content and subject matter while the other, you, often resorts to personal comments and other attempted cheap shots like the childish Hannity comment you made the other day. That's the dead give away. If I so lack the ability to follow simple logic, then why is it so difficult for you to debate me successfully? This is a cornerstone tactic of the liberal left. You claim that I'm obsessed with you while you won't leave SSB alone. This issue is very important to you. To the point where you become unraveled. It isn't so much about your obvious lack of knowledge about the game. We're all fans, some know more than others. That's no big deal. It's the condescending tone you take while trying to lecture and educate others from your elitist and snobbish high horse.

OMG JVR IS SCRATCHED BOO HOO IT'S NOT FAIR! HE GETS PAID $7 MILLION A YEAR BUT DOESN'T GET TO PLAY WAAAHHH!!!
This is your post everyday for the rest of that playoffs. Just copy and paste, it will save you time. You're welcome.
You could just be happy they're up 3-1 but you make it all about a specific player being scratched. Just be happy for the team. |
