Trade it and upgrade somewhere. Picks could be worth a fortune in this draft, teams trying to shed salary on top of it being a deep draft. Hopefully Hank retires and we can capitalize on someone trying to dump salary.

It’s insane, ppl don’t realize we’re probably not going to make a deep run next year either. Wait for the calls to trade this one and that one and for Quinn to be fired. This stuff takes time, we gave up on JT Miller, how’d that work out for us.

No reason to believe JT Miller would've gotten any more consistent in NY. He didn't improve in Tampa either. In Vancouver it seems to be working because he's an experienced veteren on a young team. Sometimes it takes a good match for a player to flourish. It's harder in NYC then most places for that to happen. Great place to play, but alot of media attention, spot lights, and distractions

No reason to believe JT Miller would've gotten any more consistent in NY. He didn't improve in Tampa either. In Vancouver it seems to be working because he's an experienced veteren on a young team. Sometimes it takes a good match for a player to flourish. It's harder in NYC then most places for that to happen. Great place to play, but alot of media attention, spot lights, and distractions

The argument against him in NY was he took dumb penalties and was lazy, at 22-23 years old you need to be able to live with that. He’s getting top 6 minutes in VAN that he should’ve been getting in NY. AV hated him.

I was reading an article saying that Kravtsov started to really improve at the end of the AHL season (away from the puck), and then in the RTP camp. I think english was a barrier, sounds like he can communicate with teammates better now.

Miller’s problem was being immature. On the ice. Dumb penalties, just lazy at times and terrible defensively. Good for him. Do I miss him? Nope haha

He had a high of 46 PIM with the Rangers, with 10 of them being fights. That’s 36 PIM for a 23 year old. AV relied heavily on his veterans, guys like Nash Boyle Richards etc could be having the worst nights of their careers and he would roll them out there shift after shift after shift. The young guys could make 1 mistake and be stapled to the bench for half the period with Miller getting it the worst. I think it was a confidence thing with Miller caused by the coach.

I also think Miller matured, he pretty much admitted he was a cocky kid who probably should have listened to coaches more. Look I liked Miller and he would be great to have now, but it took him 7 years to have a break out season. Sometimes it just clicks with a different team and system, who knows maybe it was a combination of everything, but good for him now having a great season. He was always a tough kid who played hard most nights, and him and Hayes were one of our best pk units ever. They used to have more scoring chances in one shift than the other teams PP unit

Lets say Florida is down to trade Barkov for the 1st overall pick. Assuming Barkov guarantees to resign (which is the only reason why this would be done), would people consider it?

I don't think extensions can even be discussed until the final year of a contract which would be another year away.

That aside I would still say "no" unless it is some ridiculous discount price. Getting a player with high star potential on an ELC with cost control for at least 6 years or so over time will offset Panarin's payout. Barkov already costs 5.9M and will be an UFA probably asking for 10M+ soon

I think what sealed Millers fate in NY was his playoff performances:

40 games played only ONE goal! Now granted, he wasn't playing 20 mins a game, but you gotta produce more than that in the playoffs!

Oh yeah I totally see a similar use of that pick that they did last year when they traded for Trouba.

Buchnevich and that pick for a center. That kind of thing.

I'd get rid of Lemieux. He doesn't add anything we don't already have except being the target of penalty calls and he's not particularly good at anything. Keep fast

Rangers don't have anything like him, every team needs a Lemieux and we're not breaking the bank on him so why even bother ?

I just don’t see Lemeuix leaving, Gorton said he wants to add physical players, not get rid of them. It’s why I think Domi is a perfect target. Physical, young, RFA, recently bumped to wing bc they have Kotkoniemi Suzuki and Danault down the middle. Get Frederic to center the 4th line and we have a more skilled, tougher team to play against.

Wasn't Brannstrom traded in a package for Stone? That's a big win for Vegas regardless of what the kid does.

Not every pick will pan out but you also need guys to have value so you can make an aggressive here and there. Lias offers them nothing.
