I forget if it was on Capfriendly or HF Boards but a Kings fan was proposing 2nd overall, Vilardi & Alex Turcotte for Laf and Lias.
He says the Kings are strong in Center depth but lack wingers so we make good trade partners. I'm not blown away by the offer because i think LaF will be a star but I think there will be some tempting creative offers out there. Especially if a team will take a Cap Dump like Staal or Smith in that trade |

Only way Rangers entertain trading #1 is if a bonified 2nd line center is involved along with taking on salary, i.e Staal/Smith, + ++
Not even sure that will be enough to steal away #1 from Ranger fans |

Fortunately, no one from that draft taken after Andersson is doing anything in NHL, at least anybody that was considered a top prospect at the time. I'm sure there are a few mid round picks playing - rrentz

Yese, but he wasn't on anyone's radar as a top 10!pick, meaning we can't really go back to that draft and objectively say NYR should have picked ? Over Andersson, at the time |

As to Jesper Fast:
To answer Jan's question, I think we will re-sign Quickie only if Hank retires. The money freed up by Hank leaving will be used to give Fast a 2 or possibly a 3 year deal . He should average about $3 mill per season.
If Hank comes back, then Fast is not a luxury the team can afford in a flat cap world. I agree that the Flyers could be a logical spot for him, as AV values his style of play... |

Andersson wasn't considered a "top" prospect either. Hell, when he was drafted the pick was called "the Rangers going off the board". |

Holy hell. Andersson news considered na top 15, and was taken at 7. Not exactly a long shot. Was talk that he was gonna be taken at 8 as well.
Lesson to be learned his that you don't pick character over skill, especially when the skill isn't all that good |

I am not trying to re-write history here. I hadn't heard of Robert Thomas and don't think the Rangers "should" have drafted him either. Its just such a shame that they missed on such a high pick at #7 with Lias.
If we miss on a 2nd round pick like Olaf the goalie, its not a HUGE deal. Missing on a top 7 pick though can really set your franchise back. True shame all around, but that is the nature of the draft.
As for the character of a 17 or 18 year old kid, I think we can all see that boys turn into men at different rates and times. |

Ehh. More then half of first round picks don't make it. #1 better be a big time player though |

I love Fast! I think he is the guy we bring back. With Lundqvist one way or the other not coming back Fast is the guy I bring back. |

Hope we sign him to a long term deal, 8 years please!!
Proof he was "jettisoned" from Arizona please? His character is fine, it's the snowflakes who can't handle a differing opinion. - KreiderBomb

Lias Andersson will be best remembered for throwing his silver medal into the crowd of the world juniors. What a goof - he's like Jonathan Dahlen or Ho Sang - thinks he's hotter than he actually is. |

Unfortunately, they missed their chance to trade for a second rounder at the deadline. It is time to move on before Fast turns into another Callahan. |

I don’t see a spot for Fast on the team without blocking one of the young guys. I understand you need guys like him, but most teams aren’t loaded with so many young kids like we are. I guess the argument could be made that it’s all the more reason to bring him back, but we’re not void of leadership/veteran presence. Kreider/Zib/Panarin/Staal etc. If we bring him back, where does he play? It’s easy to say the 3rd or 4th line, but I don’t see spots on those lines unless the kids are sitting. |

I'd get rid of Lemieux. He doesn't add anything we don't already have except being the target of penalty calls and he's not particularly good at anything. Keep fast |

You need a Lemeuix on your team, he’s the exact player you need come playoffs. Otherwise you look like TOR and get walked all over. He played great in that game 3 when he came back and Gorton already said he’s going to target physical players this offseason, doesn’t sound like that means getting rid of Lemeuix |

He plays the role of agitator more than protector. No one is scared of him, they just want to punch his face. The problem is, he takes more penalties than he draws and doesn't do anything else well enough to offset that. He's not defensively responsible enough to be on the 4th line, i just dont see where he fits in. |

I would rather have Fast at 3M per than TDA at 6M per. If one of them has to go I would prefer that it be TDA. Get some return and keep a great depth player who is the multi-time Players Player award winner |

A lot of the penalties are phantom calls, and he’s answered the bell multiple times for his teammates. He’s perfect on the 4th line in my opinion |

Panarin Strome Kakko
Laf Zib Buch
Kreider Howden Chytil
Lemeuix Barron Kravtsov
Obviously don’t want Kravtsov on the 4th line, just saying who are you moving out of the top 9 for Fast? And I’d rather not pay him 3 million a year to play on the 4th line. |
