Lemeuix Barron Kravtsov
Obviously don’t want Kravtsov on the 4th line, just saying who are you moving out of the top 9 for Fast? And I’d rather not pay him 3 million a year to play on the 4th line. - nyrangers9479
They might have to trade a Buch or Chytil and, as I said, i'd take Fast over Lemieux |

I would keep Chytil at center, move Howden to the 4C, not rush Barron into the NHL and put Fast on the 3rd or 4th, depending on Kravs development. |

I just don’t see Lemeuix leaving, Gorton said he wants to add physical players, not get rid of them. It’s why I think Domi is a perfect target. Physical, young, RFA, recently bumped to wing bc they have Kotkoniemi Suzuki and Danault down the middle. Get Frederic to center the 4th line and we have a more skilled, tougher team to play against. |

But it’s not a 1 year deal Fast will be signing, eventually these guys are coming. Fast will be here 3-4 more years, someone is getting blocked whether it be this year or next. We should’ve dealt him at the deadline but that’s in the past. I say move on unless we make a package deal where we send 2-3 players for 1 to open up a spot. |

Lemieux and Domi cant play on the same team. Lemieux did the nasty with his sister and chirped it at him in a game two seasons ago. |

I’m sure with Domis new 6 million dollar contract he’d get over it |

The silver lining is outside of Suzuki and Necas, who have had moderate NHL success, there wasnt anyone drafted between Andersson and Chytil that we should be kicking ourselves about missing out on - picklerick
Wasn't Brannstrom traded in a package for Stone? That's a big win for Vegas regardless of what the kid does.
Not every pick will pan out but you also need guys to have value so you can make an aggressive here and there. Lias offers them nothing. |

The pick was Vilardi, we messed it up big time. |

Ehh. More then half of first round picks don't make it. #1 better be a big time player though - rrentz
I put it in the previous blog and it got ignored... Ill try again...
Lets say Florida is down to trade Barkov for the 1st overall pick. Assuming Barkov guarantees to resign (which is the only reason why this would be done), would people consider it? |

In the short term.. I don’t think we’ll see a case where Barron and Howden are in the lineup at the same time. I feel like they’re battling for the same spot. I also don’t see Strome and Buch in the long term plans
I see Barron and/or Henriksson pushing out Howden and Kravtsov pushing out Buchnevich
Barring trades of course.. Next season...
Panarin -Zbad- Buch
LaF - Strome- Kakko
Kreider - Chytil- Fast/Gauthier
Lemieux- Howden - Fast/Gauthier
Long Term (2-3 years)...
Panarin - Zbad- Kakko
LaF - Chytil- Kravtsov/Gauthier
Kreider - Barron/Howden -Kravtsov/Gauthier
Lemieux- Barron/Howden/Henriksson - Fast |

I don’t see a spot for Fast on the team without blocking one of the young guys. I understand you need guys like him, but most teams aren’t loaded with so many young kids like we are. I guess the argument could be made that it’s all the more reason to bring him back, but we’re not void of leadership/veteran presence. Kreider/Zib/Panarin/Staal etc. If we bring him back, where does he play? It’s easy to say the 3rd or 4th line, but I don’t see spots on those lines unless the kids are sitting. - nyrangers9479
Gotta to have role playing vets who have some worth, especially in the bottom 6 and who can fill in case of injuries in top 6. If there are FAs or trades that can bring them in for cheaper, then great, but a year or two later, they leave and we are in same spot |

Dipper!!
This was my thinking reading through the posts. We are making a big assumption thinking that Barron is playing here all of next season. I’d love to be wrong, but it’s a very real possibility.
We need a player like Lemieux, but he should not be here long. Yes, some reputation calls against him, but why does that make them acceptable? Plus, way too many legitimate, dumb penalties. With him on the team, you have to pay Fast to kill them off!! |

Yep. I am one of the biggest Fast supporters and even I’m not saying sign him at any cost. But, 3x3M should be more than enough to keep him. I’d think even a couple hundred thousand less. That’s still a $1M raise.
Justified concern that this is too much for a 4th liner. So, staple him on the 3rd and let rook’s get comfortable in the big leagues playing with Capt. Responsible as they need it. |

Im a strong believer (probably an old school mentality) in that there is a formula to building a roster and the lines of a team.
For the current hockey played, the first two lines have to be a 1a and 1b.
I believe the third line has to be your defensive line, theyre fast and frustrating. Your center is excellent at faceoffs, and this line faces the other teams top line. They have enough skill on them to use their speed and counter attack to put in some goals every so often. I also believe this is the most important line in the playoffs.
The 4th line are your brutes, the center is also excellent at faceoffs. Youre not expecting them to score but a broken clock is right twice a day. Theyre out there to kill time and give guys a break. The center of this line is also a key piece on the PK as he is going to win important draws.

Yup. Calls for Barron playing a 4th line center role is not realistic. He played in the Ivy League ECAC... not exactly NHL level. Gotta give kid a year in AHL |

Based on that, is why Im not a huge fan of Chytil. Terrible at faceoffs and I dont see him as a considerable defensive threat out there.
We have very nice assets in our prospects. I see prospects and rookies like cattle, some are kept to be milk cows and some are meant to be raised and sent off for slaughter to bring in new cows. Reality of the situation is, we cant keep them all, and regardless of their talent and skill they may not be filling a need for this team. |

Well, hes got 2 more years to figure it out. At the very least hes gotta get his faceoffs up above 45% next year. |
