dermott is still only 23.
despite their shortcomings, gardiner and rielly found there offensive game at about 24 and 26.
dermott still has some development time to get better. would suck to kick him to the curb right before he finds his stride; especially for an unknown in lehtonn. - Tumbleweed
I like Dermott but they are in a crunch and need to make some decisions. They have Lehtonen signed for a year. If they like him a lot and if Dermott is looking for too much, he’s gone. Lehtonen does play both sides apparently. |

I'm not a fan of Murray. I think he's as overrated as it gets.
I know, I know, he won 2 cups.
So did Chris Osgood and he wasn't all that great. - Scabeh

Yes, except for being completely different. The FBI doesn’t make arrests without probable cause and considerable evidence.
Comey didn’t have anything on Hilary and there was no reason to make a public announcement. Other than that identical - Canada Cup
Even better, it wasn’t the FBI that arrested Bannon. It was the (frank)ing US Postal Service, through their mail fraud investigation unit. They have actual police and they busted him on his yacht off the coast of NY.

Parayko scored 33pts in his rookie year (at 22), finished 8th in Calder voting and has only improved since then.
No comparison. - mjones242
No one is saying these guys are Parayko. My point is he has vastly improved particularly in his own end the last 2 seasons. Most d men in their mid 20s do. No one is suggesting Dermotts ceiling is Parayko. |

Nahh... he's still young and has plenty of time to mature. He's made strides in every year of his development. He's also at 863k for another two seasons.
I'd like to see more of him next season. I still think he has 2nd pairing potential.
But if you mean "can't miss prospect" or "untouchable" than yeah, I'm not married to him and if the team can package him up in a deal to immediately improve the team in an impactful way, sure, trade him.
Dermott has had multiple auditions in a more prominent role and he has been, at best, mediocre. He's 4th on the LHD depth chart and he is not a legitimate RHD option. Time to move on but there are those in the fanbase who seem to think he's going to break out at any moment! - mjones242
some guys take their mid-twenties to develop. look at kadri. took him to 25 to become a 30-goal scorer.
and the reality is dermott is a lot better than most give him credit for.

Given their cap situation, what do you pay him? It’s going to come down to $ |

dump johnsson. he has no upside.
dump hyman. he'll be too expensive.
dump kerfoot. he sucks.
hell, trade andersen if you have no intention of re-signing him.

I can see him getting a two year deal between 1.5-1.7 or something similar. Which at that point, you're paying market value for a bottom pair defenseman with even a little potential to step out of that role.
I don't care what anyone says, Sandin is not ahead of Dermott. I have no doubt that he will be in the future, but 30 nhl games... 1/3 of which he was fairly exposed as not being ready... Does not move him ahead of dermott. |

No way he can move Hyman or Anderson without solid assets coming back. Dubas doesn’t know if he has a next year.
More importantly just made the perfect rice, better than anything from any restaurant. Carolina gold rice shipped here from South Carolina cooked this weird way but almost too good to put anything on it (just roasted cherry tomatoes). Amazing something that simple is that good. |
