Surprising that Trump/Barr fired the DA in charge of the office that brought the charges |

I like the idea if Bruce Boodrow. think he is a good add for the Leafs coaches.
Also, the Avs are the team right now i expected the Leafs to be. They went Stat/analytics heavy and made several low key smart moves. That are all paying off.
anyways, hope to see the Leafs make that same jump soon - senstroll
I worry a bit it becomes a distraction having a big name coach as assistant coach.

Martin Marincin
Siegel: What more can you really ask from a spare part earning $700,000? Marincin did Marincin things well enough, even surviving (sort of) in the playoffs. Grade: B
Mirtle: We all bow before our Corsi overlord. Grade: A+
A (frank)ing +.
Ok Mirtle. - Leafs43
"Marincin did Marincin things well enough"
I mean, that is true. Icing the puck when there's absolutely no need to, almost never getting it on a teammates stick with a pass, and the play being in the Leafs end a lot when he's on the ice are Marincin things.
My accurate Marincin report card-

av's may be the new baseline for building a contender through the draft. Looks like a 7ish year rebuild.
chicago and pitts were able to win early with their young stars. that was at the start of the salary cap when gm's were learning the system and using the advantage of cap circumventing contracts. those days are probably gone for good. |

Fired a while ago but threatened to go to Court unless the second in command was made acting DA. She was and vowed to continue with existing investigations.
Wonder what else they have going |

I love it when people completely deny there might be any influence (or even existence!) of cultural identities on outcome of sports teams/organizations.
there are good reasons to say in general terms one could have the opinion to favor having more finns on their hockey team over swedes - all based on those cultural differences between the two countries. - MaximusAurelius
I "love" it how your thinly veiled political biases impact how you even view a hockey team.😐 |

If true, it seems like not giving him the bonuses that Auston got was a costly decision. I’m sceptical. If he was female dogy enough to hold out over that, he likely would have held out anyway.
Again, tough to know |

I'm convinced burning the first year ASAP is the way to go. Happy we did it with Sandin this year.
Get to that second contract quicker before they put up great numbers. Then you can try to sign long term. |

This always kind of annoyed me. We had cap space for days back then, those bonuses would have created zero issues. But ah well, nothing to do about it now.

looking back, seems better early in the rebuild to burn through the elc's.
once you have a veteran team, probably best to slow play the elc's.
expansion drafts have been a curve ball in there too. |
