Reading the rule yes when a player gets a major for boarding and there is an injury, yes that is a game misconduct. However, a cut doesn’t necessarily mean that it should be a major. Making the determination of whether it is a minor or a major for boarding is still in the hands of the refs. By deciding it was a major and because there was an injury (a very minor injury at that), the tossing from the game became automatic.

As for Gallagher I think all that’s been confirmed so far is that he’ll have a CT scan but will have it in the bubble. I agree that with how he was yapping at the Flyers bench at the end of the game, he probably doesn’t have a broken jaw but I’m no doctor. What did worry me though was that it’s a hit to the head and our Gally is starting to have a bit of a concussion history. The fact that he’s having a CT scan is something that won’t go unnoticed by the player’s safety department one would hope...

also, about Gallagher the concussion protocol should've been applied right after the hit, if it was applicable... now it kinda sounds too late imo

Should have been but he could have woken up this morning feeling woozy to say the least, hopefully that’s not the case.

well apparently the word "blood" appears nowhere in the rule book, and the term "injury" probably has such a vague definition in can be interpreted in multiple ways.

and yeah really hoping Gally is fine, he already wasn't 100%...
