For those of you complaining about Sean Monahan.
On the Sabres ..... he’s a 2C here. So he’s protected by Eichel. So more favorable matchups and won’t face teams top lines. - Sabretooth9
Of course he is, it's just the price it will take to get him. |

Rhett Warrener and Steve Reinprecht for Chris Drury and Steve Begin.
Highway robbery.
Have faith - these deals can happen!

Why would anyone mail in a contract year? He's all effort, big heart, from what I've seen and heard. He's not mailing anything in. |

I think he meant he'll bounce at UFA and/or we can't afford him, but it's gerbe so WTF knows.

Im not sure it matters if skinner can play with monahan or not. There are other wingers on this team and while I dont need it to happen, skinner can play with eichel.
I see no reason why monahan and olofsson couldnt play together
Two 30/30 guys on the second line |

No.
3-4C (replacement level) and a 7M left winger without an extension
For a middle pair D and a 7M right winger under control for several more years. Jankowskis can be found in UFA.
This is a waste of assets.
On top of all this, and I don't have access to any WAR charts, but I'm willing to bet this swap doesn't get you more than 1 extra win per season. - TheSabresTaco
I mean I was just trying to generate discussion, I sense distress through your words
I personally wouldn’t do it either.
However, Reinhart holds all the cards right now. The Sabres do have two more years of RFA control but Sam could easily take the arbitration route this year and next taking him straight to UFA.

Crazy what happens when certain players are put into new environments and opportunities. Why every time you look at a guy, his performance on his old team must never be gospel to how he'll perform on a new team. - TheSabresTaco
Focusing on the strengths and weaknesses of a player with regard to how they would fit with the players and overall team philosophy is crucial.
It's the biggest failing of Botterill, and his seeming land of misfit toys approach (hoarding all the RHD, for example). |

For 41 games per season, the above is correct.
For the other 41, however... |

Check out the Flames thread.
Someone legitimately proposed the Flames trading Monahan and Rittich to Buffalo for Okposo, Cozens, Hutton our #8 PLUS.
DRugs are bad. |

If he takes the ARB route, or you are worried he will, trade him now, unless you are going to sign him to a minimum 5 year term on his next deal. |

It's overboard for sure, but the cost to move on from Okposo would be high. I'd say if they subtract Cozens and Okposo, fair deal tbh. |
