Elias Lindholm is interesting.
Had his best year last year by far (27 and 51, 78 total), and was having a solid year this year (29 and 25, 54 total through 70 games).
I looked up his most common line mates the past 2 years at even strength and found the following:
2019-2020 - Gaudreau & Monahan 50%, Mangiapane & Tkachuk 26%, Gaudreau & Tkachuk 5.5%
2018-2019 - Gaudreau & Monahan 72% (!!!)
Lindholm's offensive zone starts the past 2 years are 55% for 2019-2020 and 58% for 2018-2019.
Overall, it looks like Lindholm had a massive year last year as part of the magical line that was Gaudreau, Monahan, and Lindholm, and he reverted (so to speak) back to more normal levels this year, which was at the following pace for a full season: 33 goals, 29 assists, 62 points.
Normally, I would say a swap of Reinhart for him makes little sense as is there really much of a difference between the two players production wise, BUT, Lindholm's current contract that pays him $4.85M per year for the next 4 years is the tiebreaker.
Based on his contract, along with everything else I outlined, including the ability to play roughly 2 minutes per night on the penalty kill and the power play, makes me think a trade of Reinhart for Lindholm would be a smart move, as it is an upgrade at the RW position in terms of value for production alone.
That said, I am sure Calgary also knows that, which is why I doubt they would agree to that deal one for one. |

You gotta pay the troll toll to get rid of kyle okposo - jcragcrumple
If Cozens is as good as I think he’ll be.
The combined salary of roughly $7M between he and Okposo >>>> giving up the 8th OA pick (depending on the player could be a better prospect than Cozens to begin with) to move Okposo’s contract.

Focusing on the strengths and weaknesses of a player with regard to how they would fit with the players and overall team philosophy is crucial.
It's the biggest failing of Botterill, and his seeming land of misfit toys approach (hoarding all the RHD, for example). - kingcong39
Botterill's additions were literally just, let's make a cheap trade and throw this guy in there.
Skinner made sense, Joker was lucky and so was Kahun. A lot of his moves seemed like blind swings. |

I personally wouldn’t do it either.
However, Reinhart holds all the cards right now. The Sabres do have two more years of RFA control but Sam could easily take the arbitration route this year and next taking him straight to UFA. - Pegullaville

The only way I see it happening is if it's Penn National, the gambling site which owns ~40% of the company. It will never be Barstool.

Curious how this is all the cards. It's basically 1 card: file for arb. It's really a bluff to try to put pressure on the team, since he doesn't actually want a 1 year deal. I guess he could request a trade or not file for arb and holdout. Absent a shocking offer sheet, the team is holding most of the cards here.

To start, it would bring a well-known national brand to the area. He's also expressed that he's a fan of the area and the gameday atmosphere here. The fact that he hurt a few feelings along the way means nothing to me.
That being said, his long standing feud with the NFL and Roger Goodell will prevent it from happening, and it's a shame. |

And I'm sorry about this everyone:
But I kind of, sort of... well, I just traded the 8th overall pick straight up for Monahan on the Flames board
Youre gonna love him though |

I mean the likelihood of him filing in two consecutive years is unlikely.
However if he wants to bet on himself then it’s certainly not impossible.
If you were an arbitrator hearing the case what do you think you’d give him ?
I think he’s got a case for $6M.
Next year to even qualify him after that would be roughly $6.5M.
Would you give up a few million short term to strike gold in UFA with a potentially higher cap ?
