Haven't red the entire thing but red the excerpt...and, yeah, very ominous for skunk...i think all in sabreland would agree that there are two untouchables amongst the roster players--jack and dahlin

I'd bridge VO, without a second thought. Not nearly the caliber of player that you lock up long term.
- Lunaion

You may be right

He may score 40 and demand 9 mil in two years. Then what?

Im willing to gamble on him. He has excelled at all levels and improved every step the way. After a solid rookie season i dont see why it wont be that way in the NHL. Especially playing with eichel

Binnington wont even be in the league in a few years.

Him getting hot and getting the Blues to the playoffs has to be up there with the worse cases of Buffaluck ever

That a-hole singlehandedly costed us a top 15 pick.

Maybe a few years is generous. What a joke

Can't operate on that type of fear. Bridging Sam was the right move, and he's a much better player than VO. If he continues to improve, that's great. There's no need to gamble on it.

Will he continue to play with Eichel, or will he drop down and be a PP specialist? TBD

All depends on ask and what he wants in terms of length

If he would sign a 5 year 20 mil deal I’d consider it. Because I think he’s at least a third liner and his shot on the PP is valuable.

But right now if he’s asking for 5.5-6 mil I wouldn’t do that yet

Im not operating on fear, its more like i think he is a good player that i watched improve 5v5 throughout the year and think it will be a trend for him

I dont make those decisions though lol

6 years 4.5?

Not sure he would sign that but again, its the type of deal when it works out winning teams make

Id rather gamble that way instead of not being able to pay him in 2 or 3 years

Little higher than I'd go, but sure, if it's team friendly enough you have to consider it. My default position is bridge him though.

My thing, especially with guys who were late rounders and are older when they enter the league is they don’t always have a huge jump from their rookie years.

I think right now he’s at least a 3.5-4 mil player just on PP goals/having a decent skill set alone, and we both feel the same on PP goals.

I just wouldn’t bank on a 25 year old making a big leap from year 1-2

I put him at 3.2-3.4. There's a lot of very fair comps in that bracket.

I think we share the same concerns on him. We hold his rights for 3 more years. No need to over-commit.

He played at a 30-33-63 pace this year

Even if he doesnt improve on that im not sure what youre talking about.

Do you expect him to regress playing with eichel?

That pace is great. After the first 10 games when teams knew who he was and stopped letting him take those PP shots he played at a 18-20 goal pace with Jack Eichel as his center, while also not being able to shoot 5 on 5. He has red flags.

I think he’s already decent but I don’t just pencil him in as a 30 goal scorer yet unless he’s glued to Eichel and they continue to feed him PP shots.

I sincerely like him. But he’s far from a top liner just yet

It would be really painful to see them miss out on that opportunity, after all the junk salary we took on recently for almost nothing.
- Lunaion

Seeing poop like this doesn't help the optimism either.

If we’re talking worst-case scenarios, a second line of Skinner-Mittelstadt-Sobotka has to be at the very top of the list.

Wouldn’t be shocked if Krueger pushes for 17 to return.

Canadien Nick Suzuki patted Flyers goalie Carter Hart on the helmet twice this series after scoring on him. After winning the series, Flyers player Grant patted Suzuki on the head.

Sharp and Carter mindlessly saying in the pre-game that starting Binnington was the right move was laughable.

He's turned back into the pumpkin he was before the miracle run of last season.

Totally agree with the horrible Sabres luck in that regard.

Montreal got a better return for Pacioretty then Ottawa did for Stone.

McPhee should be barred from trading players under the age of 21. Forsberg and now Suzuki.

At least Patches will fare a lot better in Vegas then Erat did in Washington.

Begs the question though, did Vegas really improve that much in the short term ? Or would have keeping Tatar and Suzuki been more beneficial ? Hypothetically speaking of course I’m not putting you on the spot

I don’t believe it is outlandish to think the latter.

You can't begin to answer that question until at least these playoffs are over.

I don't know why you're asking me that question, as my reply to the Suzuki post was full enjoyment of him getting paid back for his bumhole behavior earlier in that series, and cry baby Weber getting angry about it.

With the State the Sabres are in right now and with the flat Cap for the next few years, I would not be surprised if the player's and there agents asked for shorter term deals, unless the Sabres are in the ballpark with a longer term deal. It actually is probably in there better interests.

Was just making conversation. In my post I did say the questions themselves were hypothetical.

It was former Sabres legend Derek Grant whom gave us that moment you were alluding to.

Yep. But ya gotta think there's a GM of a team still playing that's telling Adams "I know you have an offer already, but just hold off until we're done playing...". That sort of thing. I imagine Adams' phone is constantly ringing. Would be cool to hear these conversations.

He's a legend now to me for that move. It was hilarious.
