Mitts + 8th
Or
Risto + the 8th
I don’t mind the Risto one - Sabretooth9
Flames were one of the teams that have asked about Montour, I don't think Risto is going to be moved, THE RALPH likes him but I think Risto may have had enough here. |

I’m tired of losing trades.
Monahan helps tomorrow, however the 8th overall pick most likely gives you a similar quality player with much more team control
In a few years from now we are sitting here crying about Monahan and how he’s a passenger and useless defensively when Rossi/Holtz/Lundell/Perfetti are lighting it up in Calgary. - Pegullaville
Just like Mitts, Just like Risto, Just like Zadorov, Just like Nylander.
Blah blah blah.
Anyone of those guys can turn out to be "meh" players.
Monahan is a known commodity. |

Flames would rather move Gaudreau instead of Monahan. Centers like him are hard to come by. |

Apparently his own fan base agrees

Johnny is not a superstar like mcdavid or McKinnon. He is the next tier. But he carried 2 mediocre 40 pt guys to point per game career years. Good luck getting equal value for him. What they really need is top line players to play and share the load with him.... Monahan and Lindholm got outplayed by a plug like Reider... what a joke.
and it's not the first time.
Monahan was on pace for 50 without Gaudreau,
Next - gerbe75pts
SO Jeff SKinner again, needs to play with other good players to be good.
Monahan is paired with Skinner would be what?

I’m not saying not to trade for Monahan, I’m just saying if the 8th OA pick is included we will lose the deal, but what else is new |

Sure, but who was his wingers when they were winning cups. Think hot dog Phil. Good players matter. Period - SDSabre
I found the following when looking at line combinations from the last 2 cup winning Penguins teams, 2015-2016 and 2016-2017, to see who Phil the Thrill played with the most at even strength:
2015-2016
1. Malkin 50%
2. Hagelin 30%
3. Perron 22%
4. Kunitz 17%
5. Bonino 15%
6. Crosby 12%
2016-2017
1. Bonino 41%
2. Malkin 35%
3. Hagelin 31%
4. Kunitz 23%
5. Cullen 11%
6. Guentzel 7%
7. Scott Wilson 5%
8. Bryan Rust 3%
9. Hornqvist 3%
10. Crosby 2.75%
Sure looks like Phil the Thrill was not on Crosby's line during the 2015-2016 or 2016-2017 seasons, and he barely played with him at all during the 2016-2017 season. |

He had a disappointing season this year, but he averages over 60pts a year. Then go out and get Jesper Fast and put him at RW. - Buff36

Not yet, at least I didn't hear them yet. I'm sure a D man or 2 they will need that. Like I said, there must be more to this if the 8th is involved. |
