If the wind in Penticton comes from the south today we're in trouble.
- VanHockeyGuy

They’re expecting North blowing winds. I’m right on the edge of the evac alert. If the wind picks up my family and I will be relocating. The firefighters have been working their asses of setting up barricades. We’re going to find out if they work.

It's getting close to where I live as well, haven't heard anything yet though.

nothiing highlights societys selfishness quite like a crisis. covid or wildfires there will always be a group that chooses to care more about their own minor pleasures than consideration for the wellbeing of others

oh um the hockey-talk version...
nothing highlights a players selfishness than the guy with 2 goals shooting for the empty net in his own zone rather than make the smart play to ensure the team holds on for the win

Sad but true. I would love to see a water bomber take out a paddle boarder, as much pleasure as watching the Leafs getting knocked out of 1st rounds.

IF Canucks should go on to the next round I think this was a very good lesson for them of what to expect.

I think all these games are valuable experiences . The team may be shocked for a game or so but they seem to adjust very quickly. Even Jake now looks less scared and having him going would be a really big bonus.

We’ve been on alert since Wednesday night, but the weather had been cooperating.

My wife’s family has a vacation property in Summerland, so we’ll be fine but lots of people aren’t so lucky.

One of the unfortunate realities of living in a desert.

Cheers. We’re packed and ready to leave if needed. Going through your stuff you realize pretty quickly that not much of it’s all that important and not much can’t be replaced. A lot of good wine will die though.

Wonder who goes for the Blues tonight.

lol I actually found alot of the wine we tasted out there to be a bit on the mediocre side and prices are waaaaaaay up for bottles that should be around $35 bucks or so. But sign of the times I guess.

And I do hope that Penticton and the surrounding areas threatened by fires are ok. It's a crappy situation.

You didn’t make it too far South, I’m guessing.

No unfortunately was a bit pressed for time. I'm sure they are way better the further south you go. We hit Frind, Hatch, Quail, Volcanic, Rollingdale and Boucherie. Passed on Mission Hill and a few others. Little Straw was closed. Normally I love Boucherie wines but wow very overpriced for what you are getting now. I see they upgraded their whole facility so an increase was expected but not $65 for bottles that were $35 not just last year lol. Rollingdale by far had the best wines from what we hit. Frind, Hatch, Quail and Volcanic were meh.

Some of the bigger wineries in Kelowna have vineyards in Oliver and Osoyoos so you can get some decent reds, but the little guys can’t grow decent red grapes other than Pinot that far North.
