Looks like 50 will be the 1st choice for goalie. Incentive laden contract? 2-3M base plus 2M in incentives? - boilermaker100
I think along those terms also...

What's the scouting report on Suter? Is he all but penciled in already? - bhawks2241
Pius Suter was arguably the best unattached Euro player.
If you listen to the Siamese twins at the Athletic they think he is a middle six scorer.
I believe he has got of little in close compete and snarl that they don't know about.
Not saying Shawzie level, but think about retiring Shawzie, you have little kids at home... |

If Montreal wins, don’t the Hawks move up a spot in the draft?
That spot could make all of the difference between being a Cup contender in two or three years and being an also-ran.
Well...it could.... - StLBravesFan
Well that didn’t happen. |

The Habs have been eliminated so the Hawks will draft at #17 (barring a trade). |

If Suter can perform at a level between Kahun and Kubalik I’ll be happy (although he’s a different type of player).
If Suter has the grit people say he does the Hawks could be much tougher to player against with him, Shaw (assuming healthy), and The Drake (assuming he’s re-signed).

You have 7 spots on the NHL roster.
I count 9 That are likely at one of those 7 spots: Boqvist, Carlsson, deHaan, Keith, Koekkoek, Maatta, Michell, Murphy & Seabrook. And that doesn’t include 3 that are a year away: Beaudin, Krys & Regula. And I’m not even counting Gilbert.
Murphy gets you a quality forward back. So does Keith. - scottak

Canucks up 1-0 - DarthKane
3-0.
Looks like Van will be the only remaining Canadian team put pg the 6 that started the tournament.
And only one (Boston) who has won a Cup since the lockout lost season.
But - it’s only the dread 3-goal lead - still 32 minutes left.
Well - now it’s 4-0. |

I know STL has some key players out - but this is still impressive by VAN. |

I am starting to think cap friendly is correct, even though they are following the rigid wording of the draft determiners from OTHER years:
I guess I change my draft board to reflect Cap freindly's
Draft RULES
6 Remaining lottery teams, sorted by points, fill out picks 4-15
(sure - but this year IT wasn't points, it was play in losers....)
7 Ties are broken by teams' total number of regulation wins (RW), regulation and non-shootout overtime wins (ROW), and then head-to-head if still tied
So at least in the first round "Ties are broken, etc....of the play-in losers occupying the first round slotting due to play in losses not season stats.
8 Playoff teams that did not win their divisions and did not make the conference finals, sorted by points, are assigned the next picks.
So by winning the play in Montreal and Chicago were playoff teams...so by winning the play in series, these teams both with poorer winning percentages than all the other teams in slots 7-15 draft higher in all other rounds? Seems wrong.

I have raised the whit flag and submitted to the sad fact that because they lost three play in games all those teams with much better winning per centavos than the hawks get to select in slots 9 -15 for the ENTIRE draft.
So I have restricted the slotting to reflect it:
https://www.draftsite.com/nhl/mock-draft/2020/
The hawks do select 17, 46 (the only good thing we get outta these changes), 79, 82, 110, 141 and 172
Here are the new hawk slots and the players and profile of the players in them.

Bowman said he doesn't expect Chicago to make many changes this offseason after it reached the playoffs for the first time since 2017. Crawford is the Blackhawks' only pending unrestricted free agent. Potential restricted free agents include forwards Ryan Strome, Drake Caggiula and Dominik Kubalik; defenseman Slater Koekkoek; and goalie Malcolm Subban.
Isn't this the same post season BS we have heard for the last 5 years? But the reality there can't be anybig changes not with the "core" contracts and the damn cap.
My guess crow is back...2 year deal around 4 per...they can't do that better then that on the goalie UFA market. - bogiedoc
Crow should be back at 5-7 million. Dude he is a rockstar. Not to belittle your comment because I dont know the leagues' needs for goalies and their cap situations... so maybe you are correct. It would seem like an insult to Crow to have to settle for 4 million for 2 years. A player who can win you games like Crow can...worth at least 5 I would hope |

I'm a huge CC fan too and think outside of Chicago he is really underrated. But the reality is he's 35, the Cap's staying flat and the Hawks can't likely afford anymore than $5M...maybe $4M, Idk.
I would be more surprised if he didn't come back on a somewhat team friendly deal for next season. |

Wiz, any updates on Justin Barron's health? I still hope he's our 2nd round pick (I feel like oldduffman and his love for Askarov). |

If Askarov did go around #14, what would it take for the Hawks to trade up to get him? Would they even consider something like that?

Why would a guy have hard hands in a strip club?
Shouldn't it be....?
Saad is a 20-25 goal scorer, nothing more - but that's enough - probably overpaid by about $1MM per at his production level. I don't think it would take any more than what he's making now to resign him - maybe move him down a little. - StLBravesFan
This for Fox as well
Saad can "get there" as they say and he's strong. But he's a complimentary piece at best. Dumb it down, give him a role, and don't blow your brains out paying him and he's a keeper. He's a 20 goal scorer with a 40 goal scorers chances. If he and his dad get on their high horses about getting more money then launch him just like last time. |
