Pius Suter was arguably the best unattached Euro player.
If you listen to the Siamese twins at the Athletic they think he is a middle six scorer.
I believe he has got of little in close compete and snarl that they don't know about.
Not saying Shawzie level, but think about retiring Shawzie, you have little kids at home... - wiz1901
Also, what did they say about Kubalik at this point last year?? |

I have raised the whit flag and submitted to the sad fact that because they lost three play in games all those teams with much better winning per centavos than the hawks get to select in slots 9 -15 for the ENTIRE draft.
So I have restricted the slotting to reflect it:
https://www.draftsite.com/nhl/mock-draft/2020/
The hawks do select 17, 46 (the only good thing we get outta these changes),79, 82, 110, 141 and 172
Here are the new hawk slots and the players and profile of the players in them.

Thanks Wiz!
Dufour seems like a nice 2nd rounder, eh?
I don't know much about him but your description is a welcomed sight.

Crow should be back at 5-7 million. Dude he is a rockstar. Not to belittle your comment because I dont know the leagues' needs for goalies and their cap situations... so maybe you are correct. It would seem like an insult to Crow to have to settle for 4 million for 2 years. A player who can win you games like Crow can...worth at least 5 I would hope - just69sayin
I don't see any team putting up 5M-7M for Crawford if he was to hit the open market.
Maaaaayybbbbe someone goes 5M for 1 year like Lehner last year.
I think Crawford stays in Chicago to get that extra year (or two).
Here's a thought, maybe the Hawks do 3 years at 3M per giving Crow 9M in guaranteed $$ vs. a 2 year 4M per.
Gives #50 an extra million and a little retirement fund for he and his family.
Also helps the Hawks get that AAV down to help them this year and next. |

And no... I wouldn't do 3 years for Crawford, but just saying it may be a creative option the Hawks entertain. |

Hey Wiz, appreciate your work. I’m curious if the Big Ten postponing fall sports will effect decisions about going the college route for some of these kids.

If Askarov did go around #14, what would it take for the Hawks to trade up to get him? Would they even consider something like that? - RaleighHawk
I think they need Forwards more than a goalie. Otherwise the ice will be tilted at the goalie. |

There's going to be a lot of "insulting" offers the next few years. |

At his age that's a contract that can never be bought out? |

True. Good point.
I personally think it ends up being a 2 year, 4.5M deal. I would like the AAV lower but don't know if the Crawford camp will go much lower.
Just like Darth mentioned earlier, I'm cool Crawford for the next year or two but would like to see the long-term plan.
I would like to see Delia as the backup next year and to get him 20(ish) games with Lankinen getting a few starts.
This is with the assumption that Delia and Lankinen perform.
The committed to Delia so they must see him as a viable option. If not, they need to find one. My view is to play em and see what you have in them.
Also, even if the Hawks resign Crow... I'd like to see his games down to 45-50 a season. Especially if he's going to see so many shots in the high danger variety.

I don't either, I'd pay him $3 mil per for 2 years, I'm always under what the Hawks actually pay so I bet it'll be at least $4 mil per for 2 years
If so that would give them an extra $2 mill to work with |

For the 2020 draft the consensus is that the Hawks will draft a forward, but I wouldn’t overlook the possibility that they take a defenseman if he’s the best player available.
Guys Luke Guhle and Schneider may be worth a look depending on who is left on the draft board. While I live the defensive prospects the Hawks have I’m not sold on any of them being a sure-fire top pairing guy. If the Hawks can draft one at #17 that has to be a consideration. |

I don t see any team putting up $5 mil. For any goalie, even Lehner except maybe Detroit.

What you say makes sense, but in reality i don't think many of these GMs ever had to balance their own check book. |

Markstom could get $5 million easily, I think he and Lehner are the only ones with a shot. Holt by may have an outside chance, but I would steer clear of him at any price. |

I suppose if you want to feel better about the Hawks, go read the Detroit blog where the author details the Wings situation - yeesh! Yeah they have cap room but not a whole lot to be excited about for Wings fans. They have a very good prospect in Mo Seider, Zadina will probably be pretty good but hasn't done anything too exciting yet. The bloom has gone off the Veleno rose somewhat. They do have the 4th pick so they should get a close to can't miss prospect there. They have a solid 1st line with Mantha-Larkin-Burtuzzi but realistically that is more like a #2 line on a contending team. Yeah, things can change in a hurry but it looks like more years wondering in the wilderness for the Wings. Sorry, not sorry. |

I don’t think the Hawks situation is as bad as it feels. Work needs to be done, but its not that bad. |

Two bonefide top 6 forwards, keeping Saad, young defense gaining experience would go a long way. Then we should worry about goalie. Good teams find goalies all the time you don't have to be bad. I'm not in the camp you build from goalie out. |
