If Askarov did go around #14, what would it take for the Hawks to trade up to get him? Would they even consider something like that? - RaleighHawk
They would have to find a willing trade partner.
teams dont like to trade down unless the guy they had theimiond set on went off the board the pick before theirs...and whether the trade partner feels the net guy on their list is there at #17, or they got a group that grades out equal.
And then they would have to give up at least the earlier third to move up three slots.
And you know what?... after about slot 19 the pickings drop to the next tier, and if a team at say, 20 wanted into say slot #18, I bet they pay about the same level of 3rd rounder, because the tier ends.
I think if Askarov is there at #17 they take him, but I doubt they move up. They dont have the luxury to trade picks when they finally have some and need to rebuild. |

Here’s something I have observed for awhile and never shared:
When you look at Cup teams that win rounds, and you focus on the players that play pivotal roles in various ways, but are not considered in any shape as “top” NHL players, but considered invaluable parts to these challenging clubs, they are usually about SIX YEARS past their draft year.
So I guess I am saying look at guys the Hawks draft and add six years and you can project the growth (if things sync together with stars, goaltending and the top line ability. |

The way those three played I wasn't optimistic. - rpeters01
That's fine you don't have to be, but i saw enough even from Nylander that tells me not to give up on these kids, imagine if Bowman didn't have patience with Bickell. Frolik, Stalberg, Kruger and Saad, don't believe we would of won 2 Cups in 3 years |

It's amazing Dallas was a cluster (frank) their 1st few games. I can't believe they have turned it around so quickly

Draft a goalie in the first round, nah, I'm good. |

3 for 10 not so good already
If this ends up being a competitive series game 3 or 4 will Kadri do something stupid and be suspended for the rest of the series |

bumhole shenanigans go well beyond Kadri. There are a handful who could be suspended, but Kadri does have a history of it. |

Absolutely, 2 years in a row was suspended with the Leafs, so I'm expecting a melt down sometime in this series since Stars are playing heavy |

A couple guys. I think they are more tired than anything else. Dallas is doing a really good job keeping the puck.
Makar, and Girard both got crunched early and I think they may be a little tentative now. |

Stars can roll more than 1 line. Aves will have to change that. Francouz looks like crap with all the rebounds he gives up. Wonder if Mac will be double/triple shifted like Kane would be ... |

I was thinking the same thing. Avs have the superstart talent, but I don't see the grit, or depth.
How do they get past Vegas?
Surprised at how well the Stars are doing, but then again, the Stars have forward depth. |
