Finally someone appreciates my art - VANTEL
Oh I’ve been appreciating it for a decade. Some of it is too abstract for me, but I can see the work that went into it. This one was right up there with a Campbell’s soup can. Some of your other art nouveau:yuk: winky face. |

You are probably right. Hutton was let go cause he thought he could get more. Stecher is more likely to take a team friendly deal. If not and he waits for better offers, in this post Covid UFA market that will be real tight, he may regret it more. - NuckUp
It is literally the Canucks qualify him or not. If they don’t he is an UFA. Sure, he could say, “you’re right, I’m only worth (80% of) $1m on a 1 year deal with the Canucks, because Jay Beagle and Antoine Roussel are making $3 making it hard for Honest Jim to fit me under the cap”. Wait, no, that’s not actually a realistic option. |

IF he wants to play in Vancouver then he'll play here, or take money to play elsewhere. The Canucks certainly have an advantage when trying to sign him as he wants to play in his hometown and has been vocal about it. I wouldn't worry about him becoming a UFA. - golfingsince
I guess it depends on where they (management) feel he fits. I can’t see him taking less than he makes now, given his actual salary will likely be 80% of what he signs for. |

I don't think he's top 4.....ever. Could be wrong though I guess. I just don't see any elite(or close to) abilities and I do see several deficiencies in his game. He's also undersized.
What I do see is a guy that's actually living the dream. I think if he were to test the market he'd realize he's not going to get many if any offers that outweigh having the chance to win a cup with your hometown team. Why bounce around as a bottom pairing/depth Dman when you love it where you are? |

That’s really my point. Knowing that league revenues will be down, he knows he will earn less than his contract. Someone will see enough in him as an option, it probably won’t be the Canucks. |

I took a gander in the Leaf thread and they were basically hoping to move Wilma Nylander to make space for Pietrangelo. I guess they figure he can be locked down for 8 mil .
I do think prices will come down and after hearing Burkie say there will be a flat cap for 5 years to recover lost revenue. |

Because I don’t think the Canucks can afford to pay him what he’s worth, given all the onerous contracts on the books for the next two years. When I came out of University I was planning on being a CA. I couldn’t find work anywhere in my field because I had no experience. I started applying to firms offering to work for free to gain experience and after a very good interview the partner told me never to sell myself short, everyone should be compensated fairly for the work they do. The only reason Stecher doesn’t fit in to the structure is because other guys make too much money for what they contribute. I don’t believe he will take a fraction of his current salary even if it’s his home town dream, and honestly, he shouldn’t. |

I can totally see that. I think what that will do is squeeze the middle class a bit. Top top guys will still get paid. Maybe Petro isn’t an “A” free agent, I’m not sure, but given Karlsson just got 11.5, I think it will cost more. |

I think 10mil contracts are out the door. I think AP will get 8 mil same with Hall.Just my opinion

Yeah, that’s weak. Give him a scolding and move on. He’s a dumbass in general but this definitely shouldn’t cost him his job - Nucker101
Counterpoint: He was never good at his job in the first place and needs to find a new career because he sucks. |

I think a lot of players league wide might end up taking a fraction of their current salary on short term deals. Even at 80% he's still making nearly $2M before endorsements.
Again, he's one of the rare players in the league actually living the dream. What if I offered you say 35% more salary but you had to live in Columbus for 3 years? I'm not disputing the cap has been mismanaged. I just think Stetcher likes where he is enough to take a discount. |

Really, what's to stop the cap from dropping to closer to $60M over 2 years? |

It could but I think if it did drop drastically then there would probably have to be salary cuts. I think the cap floor now stands at 58 mil , no team would be prepared fot that much of a cut. |

I agree that they'd have to prorate salaries. The point stands though, clubs aren't going to be in a hurry to hand out big deals amidst economic uncertainty. I guess the real question is how much will revenues drop. |

I think this year AP and Hall will get 8 mil offers next year I think top agents will receive less and so on so on until this flat line is over.

Last night was fun.
Nothing against the last core. But I believe in this core more. They are super confident and have been backing it up. Vegas has had our number. But it's like a new season. Let's do this!
It's late August and we get to watch our team play playoff hockey!
I'll have to go down to Scott and 72 one night. I grew up a few minutes from there. Stay in car of course. |

Maybe, but I think the top players will want the number on their co tract to be online with their peers. Actual salary will be lower because revenue will be lower |

Surprised you can speak after eating so much crowe... oh wait... you never admit you're wrong. Canucks sure showed you what a real TEAM is all about. - NuckUp

Thanks Carol! What an awesome and wild ride so far. Vegas is the worst possible matchup for us (in the entire league) and are rightly the favourite to win the cup. Vegas in 6. That’s ok. Next year I think we can make a deep run if we upgrade stecher and our bottom 6. - CanuckDon
Aren't you the guy who likes to call people betas? Because this post is the most beta poop I've ever read. |

Totally agree with your posts. I think Stetcher is loving playing for his childhood team, and unless the Canucks seriously low-ball him think he's willing to take a little discount to continue to play here. I guess it also depends on who comes calling if he hits UFA – maybe a place like Edmonton wouldn't be so bad for him.

Read an article about the Milburys of TV. Basically they failed as execs and since they were in the hockey fraternity landed pretty lush jobs being broadcasters. Now that a new wave of guys are coming up and providing actual insight and laughs (Bieksa et al), these old guys really shouldn't have a place on the broadcast as they are actually pretty terrible at their job. |
