Buchnevich, Carolina first, next years first (protected) Nils Lundkvist and the Rangers take back Stepan(salary retained).
You can send Strome into the sun and you have two C's coming back into the lineup. Stepan is a shutdown C with scoring ability. - JRR1285
Coyotes are up against the cap and they still have dream of re-signing Hall. I don't think they can retain on Stepan.
Hayton is a pipe dream, Arizona needs his talent and his ELC. If OEL really wants out of the desert, they are a team that will be completely turned over.
This is not the droid you are looking for... |

Carl Solderberg and Brad Richardson come off the books and that is most of what Hall would be getting (including his own salary). Loosing some/most of Stepan's cap hit would help too. Might be a deal to be done but I agree, it's never happening. |

I wasn’t actually offended on Jan’s behalf. Was just using the same circular logic you were using |

the Taylor Hall trade was really ill advised by Arizona, very silly
they've been throwing picks and prospects around a bit

I wonder how much Taylor Hall is going to get?
I would have guaranteed him getting 10 million a year from somebody if you asked me last summer, but I don't know, his stock has taken a hit and obviously the fiscal landscape for NHL teams has changed |

Any team that gives him more than 8.5-9 per is going to regret it in quick fashion. |

I still think Calgary is most likely spot, which means they probably want to move a guy like Sean Monahan without taking any salary back |

Georgiev, Carolina first rounder, Kravstov
then we trade Strome somewhere else |

As has been the case for the Rangers lately, they have some good avenues they can capitalize on. It will be interesting to see what road they take. Once we see a first move (signing or trade), we'll know exactly how thing will unfold.
What are the major dates for this shortened off season? Or are those details not available yet? |

They're approximates but I believe the draft is early October? 8-10 or something like that.
Edit 9-10. |

you just kind of get that feeling that they are going to use that Carolina first rounder as part of a trade like they did last year to get Trouba
it just seems more likely that they do that instead of using the pick |

Who could conceivably be there if they keep it? Any chance of trading up to get Stutzle or will he likely be going 3rd overall?(which will be cost prohibitive)
Edit: It's Stutzle not Seider. |

Agreed.
It just seems to me that Hanks decision will be the key to this off-season. If he retires, we have cap and can make bold, aggressive moves. If he insists on coming back to finish his contract, then team has to decide whether or not to buy him out or let him play. Everything will be on hold until the team knows what Hank wants to do... |

I think letting him play in that scenario is far more palatable than another buyout.

Dylan Holloway will be interesting to see where he lands
last year at this time he was being talked about as a definite top 10 pick but he had pretty mediocre freshman season at Wisconsin, but he was playing behind guys like Turcotte and Caufield
teammates with k'Andre, so you know the Rangers like that Wisconsin thing |
