Weird to say it but I agree
2 separate trades, 1 for a winger and 1 for a D
And I see you've changed your mind on Tatar... much like I did on Petry - obie
it's not that I wouldn't like to keep him, like I said he's been our best LW the past 2 years. but the team needs to get bigger and he's a pending UFA...
if it was me I'd trade Drouin and keep Tatar, but I know MB will do the opposite.

I'd like to see a coherent plan. For a few years now there's been a lot of nice pieces but they didn't come together in a way to complete the team puzzle. Going into another year with a roster that still looks like an unfinishes puzzle would be disappointing. Doing so with a boatload of unused cap space would be frustrating to the point of wondering why Price and Weber don't want to bail.
Cap space. 14 picks. Tradable assets in Tatar, Domi, (Drouin although I'd wait on that unless somebody wants to pay for his ceiling rather than his present), Mete, Poehling (again if somebody thinks he's last years hat trick guy vs what he's shown but his shine has worn off largely for me - be happy to be wrong here) Byron, etc. All in a year with a flat cap that will force teams to make moves just to be cap compliant and likely limit a lot of teams in FA. If MB can't make this roster into a competitive team for next season I'm not sure he ever will - Takemedrunkimhome
Just making the playoffs next season would be a major step forward
And I agree... I just don't think all the decisions should be left to the next off season |

they better find a damn good backup goalie. otherwise it will be the same story all over again.

bin contrairement à d'autres je réponds pu à ses posts, alors je dois pas être la seule raison certain... il a l'air tellement débile que je sais pas si l'ignorance règlerait vraiment le problème de toute façon - Pat1993

I just don't see how you trade Drouin now and you know I'm not a huge fan
Tuna has been good but it was never meant to be long term.... it will be interesting to see the return once he gets dealt, add another solid asset and that Pacioretty deal just looks better |

If they aren't a long term piece or instrumental to success next year they should go. What MB does...? |

I'd trade Drouin now because I don't think his value will get higher (or lower for that matter). he is what he his. all the GMs around the league know it. more talented than Tatar but less consistent. |

I agree with everything here but after the playoffs I'd like to see him and Suzuki together for an extended period to see if it's a fit |

bah. we said the same thing at the begining with Domi, they were happy together and there was a fit...
always more of the same. he's a 2nd line LW, talented, soft and inconsistent.

Detroit bad years no playoffs although had a couple ok runs early when Dats and Zett were still the main guys, Vegas benched in playoffs, Montreal one good game out of ten in the playoffs. He played at a 70 point pace this passed regular season so why not try and sell high on that? Not saying he can't perform in the playoffs but am saying he hasn't proven he can either - Takemedrunkimhome
yeah he might be somewhere in between...I think it's apparent he likes to play in MTL and I'm not too concerned he'll make the necessary adjustments

it's not like he had terrible playoffs either. so he didn't score as much as we hoped for.
neither did PHI top 5 forwards, or Crosby. or Malkin.

yup, and as Price's backup he wouldn't be getting many games. sucks because at the same time you do want to see him play at the highest level possible |

And that's exactly what I mean.... if Suzuki and Drouin really show good chemistry, the pay out will be much greater than what they would get in a Drouin trade right now... might as well give it another go, besides if you trade Tatar and Domi, you need somebody to play LW other than Lehkonen |

With a good backup they should look to bring it closer to 50 at this point, I think anyway |

If as you say his value isn't going to go up or down either way, what's the harm in trying it? Talent gets more opportunities to prove they can or can't and whether people like it or not Drouin is the most talented player on the roster. He and Suzuki looked good and I'd like to see more before deciding |

which leaves 30 games for Primeau. half of what he should get. |

you'll be happy, that's excatly what will happen.
and we'll be back here next year saying Drouin to COL for a D.

really curious to see who that backup will be, if they don't want to spend much it might not be a guy you want to give 30 games to |

He'd probably get 40-45 in the AHL, but if there's no AHL season, which is likely because let's be honest, they won't have bubbles for AHL teams, he should play the 30 games in Montreal |
