Of course he is. Though this time we don’t have Markus Kruger to swap for him. Maybe Kampf, Seabs and a 5th gets it done. - HawkintheD
Since Toews and Keith are going to the Kings we don't have much to trade. |

Disagree completely, not saying he’s a top 4 D man but for the cap hit he had and will receive, he’s held his own as a 5-6 D man - rwilliams88
No, he didn't. |

Too bad he won't be there at 17. He is a no brainer in that spot if he is there. |

Disagree again, Caggiula is perfectly molded for the playoffs. He’s got some skill with the puck and can keep up with anyone on his line while being aggressive in the corners and in front of net. Yes the injury history is a concern but for the price he should definitely stay - rwilliams88
He was useless in the playoffs. There is that. |

Thankfully.
Murphy's value will sky rocket if that is the return for Jack Johnson. Tho, it probably is a bigger package type of deal. And I don't think Kapanen is all that anyway. He already had his one magical seasn and is prolly more of a 30-35 point guy than a 20 goal scorer. A decent depth player. |

So Toronto is trying to get worse? Not sure Jack Johnson makes them better on the back end. |

I just think they are young right now especially the players who form much of lines 2 and 3. 4th line many times once they get possession do a great job of getting the puck up ice same with line 1 when Saad is on it. So there's work that needs to be done but the work is weight training, skating and practicing spacing and positioning.
The Islanders several times last night made no look passes out of the zone expecting their team mate to be in position and most times they were - BetweenTheDots
This is why I am optimistic about the hawks. This stuff is all things they can improve on. They have a bunch of talent and young guys on the team, and now they all just need to learn where to be at all times and how to play with each other, as well as, gain some strength. Boqvist and Strome are another 2 guys that are tall, but slight in build. I hope they all do some strength training before the new season, and come back next year stronger.
This season showed us that most of them can learn and get better, as they were getting better as the season went along, and I think they played their best hockey during the play-in and first round. These are all good signs going forward, IMO. |

Wiz’s bestie, Pronman just started doing his organizational rankings over on the Athletic.
Unless I misunderstood, the parameters have changed a bit this year so I believe the rankings will include Dach where they didn’t the last time he did them.
Will be interesting to see where the Hawks end up.
In another article it talked about how the sky is falling seemingly for some teams after that first round...WSH, StL, CGY to name a few. That’s not exactly the way they phrased it but to me it’s a comp like when the Blackhawks were rudely ushered out of the first round in ‘17.
Conversely, they talked about how play in wins and a fairly decent acquittal by the Hawks, Jackets and Habs had to have those organizations somewhat enthused about the future and some of its players...specifically 8 and 77 for the Hawks. - HawkintheD

Filip Hollander was Pits 2nd rounder in 2018. Looks like a solid offensive forward prospect.
That is a lot to give up for Kap....nice work Pitt.

If every team thinks like this, quite possible, then he won't be getting $1.5. - rpeters01
For the hawks to retain drakes rights they would have to offer 1.650,000
Not to say they couldn’t agree to a deal before that decision has to be made |

I was watching the islanders play yesterday, since they supposedly use a similar man-to-man system the Hawks now employ, just to see what the differences were...
What I noticed was their transitions and breakouts...whenever they had control of the puck in their own end, they almost always were able to get the puck out and transition the other way. They didn't spend a whole bunch of time in their own end because they would win board battles, gain the puck and then transition without turning over the puck.
So I am thinking the hawks troubles are more with wining those board battles and then not turning the puck over. I remember a lot of times where they would turn the puck over in their own end, and then you would see those high-danger chances...
I think if the Hawks can get stronger and work on their transition and breakouts, they should be in a lot better shape, and probably won't be giving up so many high danger chances. I was looking over the hawks roster where they show the heights and weights, and I was surprised at how light these young guys with size were, like kubalik, nylander, etc. If we can get these guys to gain some strength and fill out their frames more, it will go a long way to being able to compete against a team like Vegas.
Anyway, just my 2 cents on what the hawks need to do to get back to contending. What is everyones thoughts on this? - ToewsdNKanefusd
Great breakdown.
The bolded part is key. Win the puck back, which can be done a variety of ways, and quickly move it out of the zone to start the rush.
This requires the forwards to provide support and skate with purpose to get open but also instinct and trust to know where all of your teammates are so everyone can act insitinctly rather than slow things down and overthink.
The more the transition game slows down, the more time the opponent has to set up and counter attack to neutralize any effort to move the puck past the center line.
This failure on the Blackhawks has made it so easy to defend against them. |

This is what frustrated me so much during games against Vegas. Every time they gained possession, they would slow the play down to wait for forwards to get open way up ice, instead of making quick short passes to get it up ice...I hope this gets quicker as they learn to break out more effectively, although this has never been the hawks MO. They always use that stretch pass, which also infuriates me sometimes...
