Why not trade saad at draft and try and get younger cost control player and picks? Like bowman shoulda done with gusterrson. Face hawks most likely are not going to make the playoffs next year at best a bubble team. So why not maximize the return. - Scott1977
Stan's job could depend on making the playoffs. You will be able to tell by the moves he makes now. |

I'm not picking on you Scott and I know it is just a typo, but this is easily the best misspelling I've seen of his name. It's like what you would intentionally call him to his face just to get a rise out of him. - Chunk Didn't have time to look up the correct spelling oh well. Hope you got a laugh out of it. |

Maybe trading saad at the draft would make more sense if the hawks are clearly out of it. Have to think its playoffs or bowman and jc are gone imo. |

There are a few articles saying that Colliton will need to show notable improvement this coming year in order to keep his job. I’m sure a lot of that has to do with his contract being up at the end of the season, but it is out there.
If they are trying to win and get to the playoffs this year, i would think they would hang onto Saad unless they know they can’t qualify. |

With the 15th overall choice the Maple Leafs should hope that Sanderson or Zary is available. They gain some salary cap room, perhaps, with the trade. They might do well to take a new strategy by firing Dubas then a new Gm might trade a center or Mathews. Slide Zary in when he is ready. Sanderson likely already snagged. Maybe Zary will be there |

If I were a new president of the organization I wouldn't want the coach and GM compromising the future just to keep their jobs. I would assure them that there will be another position in the organization for them if it doesn't go well so they know they will at least have a job. Then they can accept a position from another club whenever. |

Just read a report on the Score app that Kapanen was shopped to 7 teams, Chicago being one:
"Toronto asked Chicago whether it would include the 17th overall pick in a package for Kapanen, but the Blackhawks balked, according to LeBrun." |

Good. I was pretty high on Kapanen a couple years ago but he hasn't really gotten better over the last couple seasons. I wouldn't mind him on the team but not at the cost of #17 plus his $3.4M cap hit would hamstring Stan from making other moves like signing Kubalik,

I also think Craw signs for less then the #'s being thrown about. He has had concussion issues and has not made it thru a full season in how long? also with the EXP draft Im guessing he asks for NMC so he probably only gets 1 year if he does leave. IE he does not want to sign a 1 year deal and then get traded to a team with goalie injury's unless he agrees. of the RFA and UFA goalies out there he is probably somewhere between 5-10. if its me I take care of Smith (either trade and retain 50% or bury) Maata either trade or buyout or possibly trade Murph if you get a haul or Keith. get all your RFA under contract at a fair value. KK, CAG, STROME, KUBILAK. the only one I would look to trade would be strome. the reason I bring up Murph is he would return a lot and the reality is our D is just not good top to bottom. Keith I might consider because I think his value after a full season would be less. he also is super cheap from a cash stand point. Ir you are a team more concerned about $$ then AAV for the next 2 years he would be a great # 4 on a team that wants to win the cup. - kmw4631
Your right in regards to Crawford. Chicago has a ton of defensive prospects, I'm not saying to just bring them up , but only the team has a better idea as to whom might be close enough.
Murphy and Maatta are the 2 defenseman who can bring anything back and are a value in salary.
Chicago imo has to many holes to fill and not enough high draft picks or prospects who are top 6 quality. They have ? Mark's regarding their future goaltending situation.
Imo stan tried to rebuild on the fly with the hope that his core would still be able to compete at the level or close to it as they did in their previous runs.
I think New York, columbus both did the necessary and right thing by sacrificing 1 or 2 seasons with the fire sale each team had. Columbus looks good and New York last year a 2nd overall pick this year the first1 |

Not that I think that's a bad idea , but who then will oversee stan and his job performance? Marketing and generating revenue a d excitement for the franchise is great but without any accountability and or fresh young talented players playing and or in the pipeline it seems like this move isn't as significant as one would think |

What would it take to get that #15 pick from Toronto?
Murphy + for #15 overall + some sort of matching salary??

How did Toronto end up with the 15th pick and Chicago who had a worse record is at 17? That I'm confused with? |

I never claimed to know everything, I just have a strong personality/ and beliefs/opinions. Let's just say I wont sugar coat things or my feelings but I don't mean any disrespect.
So can you explain how that happened ? This formatted draft selection I don't fully understand. |

Regarding the Crawford interviews about wanting to stay in Chicago, etc, this is standard player PR. He may or may not stay, but he is setting the PR stage to make it the Hawks' fault if he does not stay. I would read nothing into his comments as to whether he actually wants to stay or not.
He and his agent have differing motivations here, as well. CC became his cash cow after Luongo bailed. Agent has a lot of incentive to get a fat, 2 or 3 year deal for CC.
Also, if one wishes read into it: the Hawks GM and Coach have both been vocal about what they perceive to be the benefits of having two goalies split time . . . the exact opposite of what CC is making clear he does not want. |

I saw that interview , and your right it's simply just not making any waves in the media or in public.
Chicago also has to figure out how to come up with enough salary to resign certain players .
As much as some might think getting Crawford resigned is a huge first step I'd argue that's debatable.

I would say it is if they can get him at a reasonable price that allows them to sign some of their other RA's.
I know you've soured on Crawford but say they could get him for $3-$4M for a year or two...who would you rather have?
Also, before you introduce Lehner into the convo, that ship sailed and sunk. Crow's still better and the numbers actually said so. |

Cro is still a #1 goalie in the NHL, especially with the Hawks considering who they have in the bullpen behind him. The trick is to find a solid enough backup who can play 1/3 of the games and give the team a chance to win some of those games.
The Avs are finding out that no #1 = no chance to win. Oilers and Flames got that leaason too. |

Rocky and Danny decide when Stan is finito. I'm sure they signed off on Q. |
