FRom The Athletic:
and this.... - MBFlyerfan
Thanks for posting that. I personally felt that Thompson was good last night, on both sides of the ice. So was Grant. I thought Roo and Voracek had decent games too. Couturier was much more visible in the offensive zone, especially against the walls, but had that lapse. I don't get why they are suddenly whipping posts.
I feel that if if any one of the Hayes break away, the Giroux post, the Konecny block (TK has to bear down a little harder on that shot. Don't just look to tap it in when there is a D-man. Lift it and put some mustard on it!)
I feel Ghost showed both his issues and his advantages. It is possible to acknowledge that both Hagg and Ghost have different strengths and weaknesses without exalting one and criticizing the other. I just don't feel Ghost belongs with Braun on the 3rd pairing.
Some players seem to be playing at 90%. This includes Niskanen, Laughton, Sanheim. Some players need to play at post-season 110% intensity. The only guys I see that from are Voracek, Hart, Provorov, Raffl, Hayes, Thompson and Ghost.
The others need to really get more intense and focus. |

Ghost was fine last night.
Braun and Niskanen? Not so much. - MBFlyerfan
Yup. Both seem to have lost a step since the shutdown. Honestly, I’d dress Hagg over Braun and go:
Provy-Ghost•
Sanheim-Myers
Hagg-Niskanen
•replace with Niskanen for pk

The Flyers leaders can't be the last guy in the pool when it comes to effort in a playoff game. Boy, is it too much to ask for max effort in the playoffs? The marriage between effort and winning in the playoffs is too strong.
Even if guys start to take liberties after the whistle blows, the commitment and effort needs to stay consistent. I know some guys on the Isles fall too well, but that is just something that needs to be ignored.
Its time to plow ahead with their grand plans of the Stanley Cup, even if the Isles are a much younger, more muscular and fit team than the Flyers. I truly believe the Flyers are more talented at the end of the day. |

Based on the fact he is only 21.

Dont care if he was 15. To say he will have a long career is just inaccurate. No one knows, likely not even the player himself.
That is company line talk. What is he supposed to say? |

We've seen them respond from bad games before. Tomorrow we will see what they got in their drawers. Hopefully it's some jam... we need some jam. |

Who says you’re not allowed to express your opinion on an open forum hockey chat board lol. That’s what this place is for. Who cares if people don’t agree with you, let them respectfully debate points with you. If you don’t like to debate, not you personally, then perhaps this isn’t for you. - Dave21Brown
I’m just reading that some people didn’t like what Ghost had to offer. Some are saying that person is wrong, inaccurate, oh it’s not like the entire team was bad or anything, blah blah blah. Or they’re beating up on Thompson or Grant. Why can’t people do this?
You want my opinion on Ghost? Outside of his first shift I barely noticed him. Ghost did have a bad first shift. He was trying to skate the puck out from the back of the net and turned it over in front of the net. Ghost was forcing shots from the point. Beyond that, didn’t notice him.
Nate Thompson on the other hand has been the same player every night since coming to philly. In a perfect would Nate Thompson doesn’t play but because we’re really not that deep, he’s playing and playing to the best of his ability.
Just my opinion. |

Gostisbehere was a part of the most effective defensive pairing yesterday. 67.5% CF 65%xGF 4HDCF 2HDCA.
Bill I'd like to point out you cited Ghost was not a part of the solution yesterday and painted him in a negative connotation on Twitter for not getting shots through. To be dominant in possession, largely out-chance your opposition and allow 0 goals while on the ice is more than most could reasonably ask of a third-pairing defender. To paint his game yesterday in a negative light is inaccurate.

What key role? Missing a big hit on Sanheim? - jmatchett383
Did you watch the game? Key forecheck on the second goal, 10 hits in the game (many of which lead to turnovers)...name one Flyer that had a more impactful game. |

It’s such a ridiculous argument. Ghost didn’t play this perfect game yesterday. He wasn’t on the ice for any goals against. Great! Regardless, he couldn’t get shots through and he had a first really bad shift where he was trying to skate the puck out of the zone but turned it over in front of the net. He couldn’t get the puck out of the defensive zone in the first shift. It was just one shift but don’t pretend it didn’t happen. |

WOW. From some of the posts on here you would have thought they played games 1-4 last night and got swept.
Did they come out flat? Yes. But some one here are jumping off the cliff like they lost 4 straight games last night.
It's a series for a reason. They could make adjustments and win games 2-5. I never thought this would be a short series. |

Well that's a psychological issue they have to deal with.
It's not against the rules to disagree with someone. |
