WOW. From some of the posts on here you would have thought they played games 1-4 last night and got swept.
Did they come out flat? Yes. But some one here are jumping off the cliff like they lost 4 straight games last night.
It's a series for a reason. They could make adjustments and win games 2-5. I never thought this would be a short series. - J35Bacher
This is way off base. We should, and we will, continue to act like this series is over after one game. I can't even believe you're suggesting they could come back from this hole. |

Gostisbehere was a part of the most effective defensive pairing yesterday. 67.5% CF 65%xGF 4HDCF 2HDCA.
Bill I'd like to point out you cited Ghost was not a part of the solution yesterday and painted him in a negative connotation on Twitter for not getting shots through. To be dominant in possession, largely out-chance your opposition and allow 0 goals while on the ice is more than most could reasonably ask of a third-pairing defender. To paint his game yesterday in a negative light is inaccurate. - Lip_Out
Since you took the good stats from a site, you should also post the bad:

I think AV needs to make a lineup change. I guess Thompson and Grant played ok but they offer very little on the Breakouts or O zone, does Frost get a shot? The Flyers get the puck and seem to make the wrong play, the pressure works on them most of the times. It was the same with the Habs. For the first time this season the Flyers look lost and AV's decisions are not making a difference, though only lost 1 in a row

I think its nuts to put a kid in who hasn't played an actual game in months, and wasn't playing all that great, in to a playoff series.

On D, can Provy carry a pair? Could he be with Braun, would hate to give Braun to many minutes. I think Ghost held his own, one of the few that showed all effort. Could he play with Nisk.
Tough calls as I dont think Braun and Ghost compliment each other when they play. Honestly if Braun was playing to the level he played most of the season you could leave the D as is but again the rest of the team isn't playing to that level.

My suspicion is that when he is partnered with Ghost, Braun is totally unsure what Ghost can do in or near the paint, so he desperately tries to prevent the play from going there and ends up doing too much. Its strange to see a vet D-man suddenly fall and flounder only when he is paired with a particular partner.
That was one cluster(frank) when he started rolling around on the ice near the goal. Isles cold have been 3-0 up after the first. |

it could be but the way they are playing you need more skill in my opinion. I am open to other choices I just think the current lineup needs a jolt. I dont the big guys need to play up but Grant and Thompson are not adding very much and scoring is the biggest issue.

Its not gonna happen. Undersized erratic underdeveloped inexperienced rookie, who has trouble with his game away from the puck, suddenly thrust in to line ups in playoffs when we are down? |

I don't think it will either but they need the skill set he has. The other part is that the bottom 6 get the puck and they are not making the next play, they get pinned in, turnover or just clear it. This is where you miss Oscar and even Patrick's skill set. Who knows maybe they play through this but it feels like it was this way in the last series and game 1 here. 1 more game like that and changes will have to be made and chances taken. |

We just going to ignore the absolutely atrocious turnover by ghost behind the net for no reason that went out front of the net that got completely bailed out by hart on a point blank 1 timer?? It wasn't just that instance but he turned it over non stop in the d zone. Provided nothing offensively too. So what is the point of him playing? Yes he has potential apparently to return to his dominant seasons when he entered the league. However when are people going to accept the fact that ghost is what he is at this point? Which is trash |

Sounds like Hextalls description of Ghost a few years ago when thrust into the lineup. Said he was going to "watch him like a hawk". He did ok.
Some thrive on the big stage. Let's see.

There is no comparison to coming up from the AHL during the season than to stepping into game 2 of the 2nd round of the playoffs after not having played a meaningful game in months.
Seriously? You can’t see this? |

Like I said - maybe he thrives. Another difference is there are not 20k screaming fans. So that fact may help, with a non traditional playoff feel to everything.

Are you nuts? Frost can't be given a chance. He hasn't played a game in over 5 months. Better to keep the guys in the lineup you know are going to do nothing. |

Offensive puck moving defenseman are always going to have giveaways. The Flyers controlled 64% of the shot attempts when Gostisbhere was on the ice. The Flyers had the most scoring chances for out of any Flyers defenseman when he was on the ice. He was not on the ice for any of the goals against.
