I think AV needs to make a lineup change. I guess Thompson and Grant played ok but they offer very little on the Breakouts or O zone, does Frost get a shot? The Flyers get the puck and seem to make the wrong play, the pressure works on them most of the times. It was the same with the Habs. For the first time this season the Flyers look lost and AV's decisions are not making a difference, though only lost 1 in a row

I don't get the Frost deal. He hasn't played an NHL game since Feb 10th. He was a borderline player then. He's now going to make a difference?

My suspicion is that when he is partnered with Ghost, Braun is totally unsure what Ghost can do in or near the paint, so he desperately tries to prevent the play from going there and ends up doing too much. Its strange to see a vet D-man suddenly fall and flounder only when he is paired with a particular partner.
That was one cluster(frank) when he started rolling around on the ice near the goal. Isles cold have been 3-0 up after the first. - PT21
The Gostisbehere/Braun pairing was fine last night. They played well. I understand you need to ignore the evidence and stick with the narrative.

Offensive puck moving defenseman are always going to have giveaways. The Flyers controlled 64% of the shot attempts when Gostisbhere was on the ice. The Flyers had the most scoring chances for out of any Flyers defenseman when he was on the ice. He was not on the ice for any of the goals against. - MJL
This team is starting to kill me with the mishandling of pucks. They are all doing it. |

Yeah, and passes are off, too. Its been like that since game 1 of RR. I don't see any other team have the timing of their passes so off as us. |

might not but it was more about the type of player and the fact that Thompson and Grant are not bringing anything to the table they need.

Lightning dressing Coburn and L. Schenn. I'd get them out there against Pastrnak as much as possible. That seems to be the answer.
Edit: And Coburn gets a primary assist.
Double Edit: No he doesn't offsides. |

This TB team is soft as baby poop.
How many games will it take the Fishsticks to beat the Bruins? I think 4. |

Nope. Andy Greene and Ross Johnston will eat the Bruins alive. |

Ghost did absolutely nothing offensively. Hart bailed him and his awful turnovers out big time defensively. |

I disagree. The coach is relying heavily on both for situational play. The offensive problem lies with the team's top offensive players.

Wow, what a great individual play by Point. I wish Giroux could still do that.

If we’re knocked off by the Islanders and the big guns don’t score, I’d really like to know where we go from here. Clearly goaltending and our defense is set. Both in my opinion have been more impressive than not but this fix of forwards is a real concern for me. We can score but who are our truly dominant players and where is our grit/toughness? |

At some point you have to make changes when a core group of players can't get over the hump. The three biggest contracts the Flyers have Giroux, Voracek, JVR are all on the other side of 30. They aren't playing up to the level of their contract. Would be hard to trade them and get any type of quality return imo.
The Flyers have 4 trade chips that could bring back quality players/assets. Couturier, Provorov, Hart, and Konecny. Not sure I'd want to trade any of them. |

I wouldn’t trade any of the young players you mentioned in Hart, Provorov, Couturier or Konecny. I feel like Hart, Provy and Coots are corner stone players on any team. If I had to trade one, it would be Konecny easily.
Honestly, I’m not on the same page with most of the fans on this board. My feeling is, we need more hard working, gritty, tough players in the bottom six but in my opinion I wish Sean Couturier was the second line center of this team more focused on shutdown and chipping in offensively, rather than being the center expected to do everything. No, I’m not disappointed in Nolan Patrick. Injuries happen and he’s freakin 21 years old. If he can return to hockey, I wanna see the organization push him as far as he can go. Also, I don’t believe Morgan Frost to be the next Claude Giroux. I think that’s too high a bar to ask him to reach. Making my point, I think this team is really missing that next big thing at center since Giroux himself. |

Yeah, a Giroux sighting would sure be nice. If he keeps playing like this they gotta clear some cap room this offseason somehow and get a difference maker. The amount of money between him and JVR... ugh |
