Giroux has one goal in his last 23 playoff games. Couturier seems to be regressing. Konecny is too busy banging his stick on the ice and staring at the ceiling. Maybe they’ll be able to lock down the D and squeak out some greasy wins, but I wouldn’t hold my breath for any of these guys busting out offensively. - Dkos
That isn’t true is it? 1 goal in the last 23 playoff games is it? It can’t be. That’s more than a quarter season of games. How is this poop tolerated? |

The data is going to be skewed. How do you judge the “playoffs” this year? It’s obvious some on the team didn’t condition or prepare during the pause.
It’s the same situation for every team. But I don’t know how much stock I can put into these “playoffs”. The intensity has increased a bit, but it’s not traditional playoff speed. No road/home games to build/stop momentum. And the fact that some teams look like they are in October/November shape desperately trying to play at May shape. - Flyers1218
I agree the playoffs are different this year. Just imagine how different last night might have been if they lost 4-0 in Philly? All the teams are in the same boat though. Montreal and the Islanders seem to have little issue with motivation. They need to find the fire or they are done. |

He scored against the Rangers (2014) and the Pens (2018). So, its not one goal in 23 games. It may only be 2 or 3 though. So still not good. |

Any way you slice it, it’s pathetic. Give me the other elite players who have this type of playoff futility. |

So since 2012, Giroux has played 26 actual playoff games and 3 goals and 11 assists. Little more than .50 PPG. Not good. |

Got that stat from Carchidi...so who knows if it’s accurate. Sounded plausible to me tho.

Either way it is pretty bad and not nearly good enough. This year he has the support so the production should be there. |

I am going to say Flyers win game two. Series will be tied. Did the team play well, No. But this is a team that showed resiliency in bouncing back after a loss. The Islanders are playing well. Give them credit. But after the first the Flyers started to get chances just didn't finish. Maybe I am blind but I think next game you'll see some goals and a better start. Hayes buries the break away and the dynamic of the game could have changed. He didn't and now they need to move forward. But I feel like AV has a good handle on this team, you might see some adjustments and lineup changes.

I still think he’s a good player and very skilled, but as a fan it’s really disappointing. I feel like this whole season I’d find myself wondering, after a win, “how did they win that one?“. It continued in the playoffs. Montreal sure felt like the better team, yet somehow the Flyers won the series. |

The only takeaway for me is I am not going to watch to the end of a PO game if it looks like this.
Unacceptable.
We have an awful lot of money going to people who skate. That's great for them but not for the fans. We expect a little production.
I thought the Hab-nots were the superior team overall. Now we look up after that series and we get hammered a little more. Eventually, you either score or the other team does. SOMEBODY has to win.
Informing the players of this might motivate them, eh? |

Don't remind me.
The Islanders are a though bunch though.... And their best players are on fire.
I don't think the Flyers's big guns are lacking in effort but something is obviously lacking in execution because they don't make plays like they can.
This being said, they should adopt the same strategy they did vs Montreal. Try and score the first goal with a bounce through traffic and then close the middle of the ice so Hart can stop shots coming from far away. |

Here is the issue, is Claude still an elite player? While he can still help and be productive I don't think he is elite at this time. |

Can't wait to hear the argument over what "elite" is for everyone. It doesn't matter whether or not he's elite at this point. He's not producing to the level he's capable of and it's a big reason why the team has looked so bad the last 2 series.
edit: last series and one game of this series I should have said. |

As I mentioned in the previous series, this Flyers team looks slow, and they play the game slow. Against fast teams like Montreal and Islanders they are going to have a tone of problems. The Islanders, unlike the Montreal, has the skill up front to bury their chances as you saw last night. Carter Hart played a great game and kept the score 1-0 after 1 period when the score could and should have been 5-0. What bothers me more than anything else is the young players we have been told are so good are just not that good and you are seeing it in this series. TK, Provorov, Haag, Ghost, NAK don't look very good against fast teams like the Islanders. And I'm sorry to bring this up, but how good would Elias Pettersson look on this team instead of the sidelined Nolan Patrick? Hextall's picks were over-rated IMO, many teams have drafted and promoted better prospects in the same period of time. When you drafted an injured player, why would you expect that the player is magically going to be injury free? This to me has to be the biggest thing to address this off-season, the Flyers must get faster and play faster! They need to re-evaluate their prospect pool and start making adjustments to how to draft. |

We can re-phase it to ask - what are the Flyers getting for almost 9 million a year? Is it worth it? |

I guess we're rounding up.
For the last few playoffs, I'd say definitely not. |

Giroux looks like he's playing with a loaded diaper. Injury, maybe?
Couturier looks more suited for NE Philly Skate Zone leagues at the moment.
Konecny should probably talk to a cognitive behavioral therapist.
Kevin Hayes: Will he ever score a breakaway ever again?
Jake is back on the knedliky, it would seem, and it's serious.
Six more games to go, get better and get the win in Game 2.

Yes.....I have been saying this for a while...Hextall was an overrated talent evaluator.
2014 picks Sanheim over Pastrnak
2016 picks Rubstov over DeBrincat
2017 picks Patrick over Heiskanen, Makar and Suzuki
And gives Voracek and JVR...contracts for several more years at a combined 15.25 million per year.
Fletcher won a playoff series in his first full year as GM..something Hextall couldn't do in four full years. |

That isn't pathetic, it's non competitive. If these were the numbers of the 4th line center I'd be disappointed. |

So did 24 other teams, including Washington and Chicago won won the Cup after this draft.
2016 picks Rubstov over DeBrincat - ClutchFlyer
Debrincat went 39th overall, meaning multiple teams passed on him including multiple teams that have since wont he Cup (St. Louis twice, Washinton)
2017 picks Patrick over Heiskanen, Makar and Suzuki - ClutchFlyer
Hischier and Patrick were the consensus 1 and 2 picks by the vast majority of the hockey world.
And gives Voracek and JVR...contracts for several more years at a combined 15.25 million per year. - ClutchFlyer
Yeah, not great deals.
Hexy also signed Phillippe Myers who NO OTHER TEAM WANTED TO DRAFT, which makes me think he must be pretty good at idetifying talent. |

No argument here at all. What level is he capable of producing? Maybe it’s a case of diminishing returns at this stage. He is expected to carry the mail and maybe he just can’t. Doesn’t mean he can’t help just he isn’t the guy to lean on any longer. |
