That's what I gathered.
I don't think there's any chance 8 and Cozens can go for anything. We have next to nothing beyond that. - RhinoFan
we do have nothing beyond those two.. a trade to get Kane would be an all in on the next few years... and we just don't have a complete enough team to make that move |

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but Id trade plenty for Pat Kane. Just turning 32, that means another 4-5 quality years, shows no signs of slowing down, no major injuries. Risto was #8, Mittelstadt was #8 and Nylander I think was #8. Yeah..Id gladly send #8 for a sure fire hall of famer that is a 3-time Cup winner.
Id send Cozens too. Either/or. |

CapFriendly has him listed as both an RW and LW, and their depth chart has him as their 3rd line LW.

Interesting, cause Arizona official site has him as a RW, and could of sworn he was playing RW with Dvorak in the playin rnd. |

Well idk why we allowed our right side to be a complete mess behind Sam last year then. Seems silly |

Exactly. Mitts for Strome can make some sense. We just can't afford to lose both those pieces. |

Only a Sith deals in absolutes.
I'd retort that there is a big difference between trading 8OA/Cozens for a 31yo, 10.5M winger and burning another 3 years of Jack. |

I think youre underrating Kane just a bit. He's not Skinner, but I respect your opinion. |

And still only having one center and $25 million tied up in wingers before signing Samson and Olofsson.
Unless you are getting Strome. But losing the upside of Strome at 3c and cozens being 2c.
Kane makes absolutely zero sense here. That’s a Sith absolute... |

Kane is also horrific defensively, which absolutely matters, and he's not a Center, plus he makes $10.5M.
Easy pass. |

If/When the Sabres draft well, and have multiple guys on team friendly deals, they then can afford bloated contracts. Right now we can't because that space isn't a luxury for us |

Not saying I want him, but he is one of the few Wingers that can drive his own line, that wouldn't need that good C. |

Which is why making the selection at 8 is even more important.
Apart from Cozens we have nothing coming in the pipeline. Also it’s a pretty good crop of talent at the top one way or the other we will have our selection between 1-3 really good forward prospects.
I’m all for moving the 2021 first to win this year though. Next year is a d-man heavy draft and we will hopefully be picking later then 8th. |

He's great. I played with him for quite a few years. But I hurt when I get up in the morning now. I imagine his body isn't feeling as spry either.
If we have 30M tied up in 3 players, we won't be able to upgrade anything else. With no ELCs from 8oa or Cozens coming, we would have little to backfill with.
Respect all around partner. Just hockey talks. |

Don't get me wrong, Jack/Kaner would be an amazing pairing. I can understand why some say go for it. If he wasn't the player he is, we'd all be laughing. The value isn't far off, just don't think the Sabres can afford to pull that particular trigger is all. |

Depends on the package that could acquire him imo.
If it’s as simple as Mitts and a 2021 first then it wouldn’t be the end of the world.
I highly doubt you can get Kane that cheap though. The package that would acquire him wouldn’t be worth it. |
