A few thoughts:
- Glenn Hall is the greatest Blackhawk goalie
- Dominik Hasek is the best goalie ever to wear a Blackhawk sweater
(yes, those are 2 different things)
- CC is going to be back for $10M over 3 years $3.33M AAV
- Subban will be the backup (he's a 1st round pick who has played best when given more consecutive starts)
- CC will be the clear #1 next year, he and Subban will go 50/50 the following year, Subban will be #1 in year 3, with CC retiring after the end of the season
- Delia is a career AHL/Euro goalie
- Lankinen will go on to be a starter in the NHL, but not in Chicago

I dont know if all are aware of the fact that the NHL, if the US inability to get a grip of the spread of the virus, the NHL is condsidering NOT having the entire leagues rinks open and start the season with empty seats then advancing to partial attendance with testing etc
They are considering expanding the hub city concept and having a groups of teams lock down together and start with play in limited cities.
Not trying to make this political, but the I think all have to agree that strict bubble has worked so successful BECAUSE the leadership has put the restrictions as paramount; We all know if there was any looser rules or putting the guard down, could close this current playoff, as we have seen in baseball with disproportionate standings due to cancellations.
I applaud the NHL on what they have accomplished so far, and if they see fit to continue to go no fans, just TV and bubbles this idea of bubble city hubs may be how 2020-21 begins. - wiz1901
I, too, applaud the league on its successful RTP program - the “sterile bubble” process has worked well.
But - I’m not sure it would work for any regular season schedules.
The players know that this is the Cup tournament, that being isolated from family and friends is for a limited time (only 8 teams left out of 24, all teams home in another 5+ weeks)....
How well will it work when the games are “only” regular season games, when the time in the bubble is more open-ended and possibly for a much longer period of time?
I think this tournament is a unique situation that would be very difficult to move the isolation of the bubbles into a regular season schedule. |

It has been reported the the Maple Leafs contacted the hawks about their #17 overall picks and told the Hawks, smartly, were not moving it.
I am curious as to what exactly was discussed with Corey Crawford that he publicly said he wants to be the man where he signs.
Could the Hawks have discussed with him the possibility of bringing say a Matt Murray or outsider not part of the Rockford farm system?
It just seems that Corey's comments about being the workhorse were either him still smarting from the Lehner signing and being thrust into a competition or a slight feeling hurt interview. - wiz1901
Reports are PIT is moving one of their 2 goalies, either Murray or Jarry. |

I think they prefer to move Murray but his stock has really fallen with him being often injured, and inconsistent play when he is healthy.

I took it to mean that the 3 forwards from the other team live in and around our crease, while our C and 2 Ds stand next to them. |

It was Elbows so that’s possible. Just wanted to play gotcha with him on the chance it was a typo. He is human after all. Pretty sure anyway. |

Yes they have to expose a goalie who is signed for the 21-22 season. Right now both Delia and Lankinen fit the bill. If Crawford signs a multi-year extension he'll probably want some assurance that he will be protected in order to stay in Chicago.
No guarantee that Delia or Lankinen will be selected by Seattle. I think they have to select three goalies and there may be better choices available. - boilermaker100
They can protect a goaltender in the expansion draft, correct? So maybe they sign Crawford to a 1 year bonus laden contract, and then he would not be eligible for the expansion draft since he isn't signed for 2021-2022, and they protect one of Delia or Lankinen, whichever they feel is the most probable future starter, after evaluating them this year, and expose the other one.

Hawks would be constantly shorthanded with all those too many men on the ice penalties. |

Tyler Cameron: What's the future in net for the Blackhawks?
For years, there has been little doubt between the crease in Chicago. It's been 10 years to be exact; that's how long Corey Crawford has been the anointed #1 for the Blackhawks.
But what (or who) is the future in net?
Corey will serve as a nice stopgap as the core remains very productive and the young guys try to catch up fast enough to create a winning formula. It'll be tough and the outlook is that this team will probably be fighting for a playoff spot next year. - Tyler Cameron
If Crawford is willing to play on a 1 year deal around 2M, and you draft Askarov......... Could be a nice passing of the torch.

Let's not forget that the Hawks - allegedly - tried to acquire Ilya Sorokin prior to the deadline.
I think there's a very good chance that Stan is looking elsewhere for a long-term starter.
Delia, Subban, Lankinen, etc. might be plausible back-up options but it's very telling to me that realistically the only option(s) at this point is to either re-sign Crow, or seek a veteran back-up on the market for the interim (another band-aid in the mold of the way Huet, Turco, etc. were brought in).
Jarry/Murray could be options. We have a history of trading with Pitt (Maatta for Kahun) so it wouldn't surprise me to see the two teams link up for another deal. |

Wiz if you are out there what is the comparison between Suter and Kahun (if there are any besides both being Euro free agents).
Is Suter more offensively gifted? Similar skaters?
I liked Kahun but he handled the puck like a grenade half the time.

Let's hope it is better than Kahun for Maatta. That one is a L for Stan. Best part of McD and COVID was the Hawks clearing out some of the garbage on the pro scouting side. Cause they were not good in their evals of pro players.

Imo sign crow 3 years 3 million per like you said tyler. I m not as high on delia as you are but that is a discussion for another time. Let suppan delia lank battle it out in training camp. Draft another goalie. But i would like to see is hawks trading for georgiev or another option is to trade for Johansson from buffalo. You mentioned him in previous blog. - Scott1977
If you read between the lines, the Hawks are acting like the only NHL goalie in the organization is Crow. They are never going to say that but follow the actions here going forward. |

That is not a bad plan on the Crow part. We probably do not know the name of the next goalie there are many ways of getting there? |

I definitely wouldn't say it was a L for Stan. Kahun was even given some time with Crosby and Malkin this year and didn't perform, and he didn't last a full year in Pitt before being moved to Buffalo.
Say what you will about Maatta during the regular season, he was worth every penny in the post-season for what he brought. If it wasn't for the numbers game then he would be a lock, and we would be more than fine with him as a bottom pairing d-man on this team moving forward.
