He was better than Delia which probably scares Stan. Hawks defense was the worst ever that year. |

If Crawford is willing to play on a 1 year deal around 2M, and you draft Askarov......... Could be a nice passing of the torch. - bikeguy99
Probably won't be available where the Hawks pick. Carolina would take him for sure. |

Tyler you summed up very nicely your point regarding the lehner crawford debate.
Imo resigning crawford should be as follows , 3 million max 2 years and nothing attached to his contract.
Crawford his concussion history along with age is my concern /red flag he could be a good mentor to whomever chicago moves forward with as their future goalie.

According to Millbury the guys are horny. - rpeters01
Looks like Mike and Jeremu=y hornied themselves out of jobs.
Milbury has basically been a useless crab of an analyst for quite some time.
Keith Joines is the last Dino there but I doubt he opens his mouth and loses his job.

ARI docked their 2020 2nd round pick & their 2021 1st round pick by the NHL.
I hope they feel shame.
Should send the franchise to Quebec as additional punishment. |

Definitely Corey has to UNDERSTAND his past sorts of dictates having a second strong option and that was the reason Lehner was brought in and although he basically sat healthy for stretches the guy played well eb=nough to start.
So StanBo may have to weigh all options as they probably have to promote ONE minor pro goaler to Strat to see what we have in each (or NOT HAVE).
With SO MANY options in available net minders that makes bowman's job a bit easier because if things break down or impasse, does it make THAT MUCH difference who IS brought in if the gaol is to play younger farm goalie(s) and someone?
Not trying to denigrate the terrific playoff, the aging Playoff computer core, who might not like a flop in 2020-21, but is this a cup run ten that stretches their series next year into the final four, or eight?

Not one positive COVID test. Maybe Bettman isn't an idiot. - Elbows15
The bubble has worked well for hockey and basketball. Other than the huge false positive scare, NFL players have also done well. Baseball not as much, but that seems like a couple teams stepping in it.
Good news (and planning) for sports. |

And some Hawks quotes:
Connor Murphy said he took a "step forward" this year. Worked with coaches to improve his puck play, but admitted that's still a "work in progress." Plans to continue working on that this offseason; he's going to stay in Chicago for it.

DeBrincat on falling from 41 to 18 goals: "Haven’t figured out why they weren’t going in as much this year. That’s something I’ll try to figure out... I feel like I was putting it where I wanted. Maybe goalies are reading me better or maybe I need to tweak something in my shot."

Slater Koekkoek, an RFA this offseason: "I hope to be back, I don’t know. I haven’t discussed much with my agent to see what’s going on. But obviously I’m hoping to re-sign in Chicago. I thought [Maatta] and I had a good thing going, so hopefully I can get a deal done." |

Not at 4.5M for a bottom pair D-man. He sucked just as much in the PO. Don't be fooled by him getting 2 lucky goals.
Maatta is too slow. Not very good at board battles. Doesn't make quick decisions with the puck. Partly because by the time he gets to the puck, someone is already on his ass.
Kahun had 31 points in 56 games. On the plus side in every metric that matters. I say he had a year consistent with who he is as a player. Plus, he is most likely to be inexpensive as a depth winger. - Elbows15
Fortunately Maatta's buyout cost is ridiculously cheap, a negligible ~$680K cap hit each year for the next four years. https://www.capfriendly.c...t-calculator/olli-maatta1 That had to be part of the calculation when Bowman traded for him, the cost of getting out of the deal should he not pan out.

And so would Calgary because Ritich capped out and Smith is far longer in the tooth and not a regular game by game starter...

I don't think you have to buy out Maata, you could at least get a draft choice for him. There are too many teams that would want him, even at $4 mil. I could even see a Matta for the oft injured Nick Bjugstad from Pittsburgh who also makes $4 mil. for one more year. If he can stay healthy there is your third line Center/Right winger who is good at the faceoff dot, and skates well for a big man. He doesn't have Strome's passing or playmaking ability, and also doesn't use his size as well as he should, but at least you are getting somebody that could fill a need, especially if the Hawks decide to move on from Strome.

I know you were just giving an example, but I'd stay away from him. We have enough guys coming off of major surgery. We don't need one coming off of spinal surgery who is not likely to be ready for the start of next year (per reports). |
