Yup was just looking for Glen Hall... - rpeters01
Yeah, I am taking the guy who played every game for 7 years in the no mask era. Belfour was a playoff choker. I tried t stay with guys who played for the Hawks for more than a cup of coffee. Loved Espo but will never forgive him for that goal in 71 |

Too much to move up if trade saad its to get a younger cost control saad like player or move up to top 6 imo. Wiz who is the second best goalie in this draft and what round would he go in? |

Love that top line! Gotta say there are a few more that could make a strong case:
Matt Carey
Drew Leblanc
Reto von Arx
Rusty Olesz
Brandon Bochenski
Jim Dowd
David Runblad
Brandon Manning
Jassen Cullimore
Michal Barinka - Chunk

Have you heard any news about Svechnikov's injury? Looked like he really tore up his ankle or knee. - boilermaker100
High ankle sprain. Says he's 100% now and probably would have played game 1 of second round if they had made it. |

Good to know. He's a promising young player and I didn't want his career derailed with a major injury. |

I was in Jr High '71, for some reason they showed replays of that game every class in school I don't remember why? But I do remember my buddy saying "he lets that damn goal in every time!" |

Yep, he had trouble with those type of shots. I was at a game late in Espo’s career where the Hawks were winning 1-0 against the Flyers, and sure enough he let a 50 footer in with a few seconds to go, game ended in a tie. |

If you are taking one and Askarov is there at 17 he is a bargain no matter if he is Russian, in Russia...he wants to co over he wants to win, and he really is fast.
I am not trying to be jerky but if you go to the site and click on the word goalie next to Askarov, it pulls up all goals in my seven rounds.
72 Jan Bednar
92 Joel Blomqvist
93 Drew Commesso
102 Brayden Peters (at one point when my slots were different I had him to hawks)
122 Joseph Tucker Tynan
124 Samuel Hlavaj
140 Bryan Thomson
143 Garin Bjorklund
162 Taylor Gauthier
172 Mack Guzda
178 Grant Riley
181 Dylan Garand
187 Calle Clang
188 Roman Basran
210 Juho Markkanen

Hey Wiz. Thanks for the goalie summary for the draft.
Is Nico Daws not eligible anymore? I see he's no longer listed on Draftsite. |

Oh wait, that is some of the worst. LOL. I think Dirk Graham should have made your top 12 Tyler, in my opinion - ikeane
I recall Tim Trimper. I also recall Cassidy riding Gretzky off the puck on a breakaway in an exhibition tilt. Trying and failing to recall A Bennett. Sanipass a disappointment. Lecuyer could shoot from either side.
Babchuk. Well it rhymes with Malarchuk. Which a blueline pregame note said this: Malarchuk, Upchuck. Yep Babchuk not too good. Tallon really blew it drafting Skille and Beech. And he drafted a couple Russians too. Big time fail. |

Didn't Olesz blow out his knee he was going to be the big forward we needed?

Pretty sure he was damaged goods when the Hawks got him. He was the bad contract that had to come over to get rid of Soupy's deal. |

Hey J, think you're thinking of Smith on drafting Russians (Vorobiev, Yakubov, Babchuk).
Afa as Skille and Beech go, imagine if Tallon had hit home runs with those picks too (Kopitar, Staal, Rask, Oshie, Neal in '05 or Karlsson, Eberle, Carlson, Josi in '08).
For the oft used "Builder" tag that gets used on Uncle Dale, like you said those were big misses and he hit on only one dman during his time here...albeit a good one (Hammer).
