There are a lot of good team in the East, and other young teams Rangers, Devils, getting better. Rags adding Lafreniere is a big boost. The Flyers are no lock to make the playoffs next year. - PLindbergh31
once lafreniere gets settled into the rangers line up we're toast |

I get what you’re saying, but acting like the pause doesn’t play a role in this is asinine. It’s helped some teams (Islanders who were on a 7 game losing streak) and hurt others (Flyers, Bruins, Blues).
It’s also obvious some players didn’t do what they needed to to prepare for this playoff during the pause. I tend to believe the team I saw before the pause over 70 games is a better representation then what there is now.
Their scoring is fine. Teams go through slumps, that’s hockey. They are going through it now and the Islanders are playing well. No need to panic and break the team up AGAIN. |

Just time for g to move to a different team. New start with a much reduced role. It’s time. - SMS4016
Philadelphia. When you’re ready to move on, you’re ready to move on.
The true reality is, Claude Giroux was a dominating player in his prime and nobody has been able to fill such large shoes the moment G was unable to carry this team on his back anymore. Sure Couturier and Voracek are nice players but neither could ever touch what Giroux was in his prime. Giroux has been wasting his talent here the moment Kimmo Timonen retired and key pieces like Hartnell and Schenn were traded away. We had to rebuild and unfortunately we could freeze Giroux in ice like Captain America. |

Not to knowledgeable hockey fans. Bookies dont know sh*t They just go by standings. Even the commentary cast knew Philly was in rough shape going into the series - xShoot4WarAmpsx
No, bookies adjust odds according to the money that comes in. 😂 |

Kinda like Gagne. Not a knock on g. He’s still useful. But not at his cap hit and for this team. It’s time. Clearly |

Well the best thing to come from these playoffs is no one can deny its time to move on from Giroux. - SMS4016
Playoffs did no such thing. For one I dont believe he has declined. He had a bad year. This happened before and people thought the same thing. He bounced back with a 100 point season.
Secondly Getting rid of Giroux doesnt change anything that happened. The team still cant make a tape to tape pass, they still give up odd man rushes, they still fail to clear the puk, they still turn the puck over too often, they are often out worked and they still force plays that arent there.
Giroux is still only 32. He has at least 3 more years. He is going to retire with this team. |

The Islanders were not the favorite. The Flyers were -130 - PLindbergh31
Isles were favored by a lot of sportswriters, including Athletic, Inky, Bleacher Report..
But I will take final betting odds over opinion pieces anytime. Otherwise, if bookies made mistakes like that and commentators were choosing favorites bookies did not, they would go out of business. |

32??? It’s a young mans game. Look at Barzal. Turn on Vancouver game. G can’t play at that pace. G won’t hit 70 points in a season again. |

Is Gotsihbere, I know that’s spelled wrong, out for any particular reason? I know I watch a fraction of Flyers games you probably do but when I’ve watched during regular season games, he’s been pretty good. - potvin05
AV intends to grind out wins in this series, hence Hagg in for Ghost.
I sure would have preferred Ghost on that one-timer in the high slot that Hagg shanked. |

To be fair, Pageau has a 3.1mill cap hit and Grant has 700k.
I dont think we could have added Pageau.
Now, if you want to point to the poor overall cap management by Fletch then you have a point. - MBFlyerfan
While, Hextall tied up 15.25 mil in JVR and Voracek....neither is worth their cap hit.....amazing how Hextall continues to get a free pass. His average draFts are the reason why we are losing this series....while Tampa will go through the Islanders like hot butter in the ECF.

G hasn't been wowing anybody, but he's not the reason they're down 3-1.
The Isles play as a 5-man unit and they're disciplined enough to keep that going most of the time. They're on their 2nd year under Trotz and everything they do is second nature to them by now.
Meanwhile, the Flyers only manage to be on the same page for 10-15mins per game. Their collective focus and confidence wanes. Their puck management discipline often goes out the window. The kids show their inexperience too often. And all the vets have been slow coming out of the gate, except for maybe Jake.
Getting rid of G solves very very little. They just need more time under AV to come together. |

Its not just G gone though. Its G gone + what he would bring back (which I admit with his contract/production ratio is very little)

Not just that. Youth needs playoff experience too.
This is the first playoffs for Sanheim, Myers, Farabee and NAK
Provorov, Hagg, Konecny, Pitlick all have limited experience in playoffs.
I dont know whats going on with the others though. One good thing is Giroux and JVR looked good tonight.
Despite the goal I want to see Coots be better and Voracek a lot better and more consistency from Hayes.

We had space to maneuver for the future. It was then spent on JVR and Hayes. Girouxs contract is almost up and you know that cap hit is coming down |

Looking at the competition, and flyers core age, skating speed grit overall talent. It could be awhile for the next flyers playoff round victory. Habs was a fake 24th seed Corona imposed lightweight opponent. That made flyers look really bad. |

Clode ain’t going anywhere unless he asks to be traded. So any trade scenario involving him is silly. Massive changes are needed up front. |
