Yea if you want to resign him for 8 years and 9/10 million. Even then it will diminished returns sooner rather than later imo

He gets you the biggest more fruitful return. That why I look to move him

Provorov could probably get you a nice return too. May as well move them both. Hell, package him with Konecny.

I'd throw in Lindblom and Patrick also. They'll never play again.

Couturier is untouchable as much as a player can be untouchable.
- MJL

SO you have no issue resigning him for 8 years and 9-10 per is that fair to say?

It’s is very possible they play just as much as they won’t. Sadly it’s. Bonus if they do and can’t count on it

I have no issue re-signing Couturier to long term market value deal that is fair for both sides.

Lindblom is no doubt going to play again. Patrick is still a question mark.

He will be 30 by the time his new contract starts. Who on earth is giving him 9-10 million a year for 10? It will probably be a 5 year deal.

And even if this was a concern, why trade him now when we can have his peak years at half the rate you mention?

Why would he take 5 years ? You don’t think a team will offer 8? No one said 10 years

He is in his peak years. He likely ain’t getting any better

It has been but they lost last night by how many goals? How has the PP been doing? Again, not all his fault but the top dogs get the glory and they should also get the criticism. To not point the finger at him is negligent. Can you tell me what team wins in the playoffs without their best offensive players producing?
- MJL

OK, but some people were talking like getting rid of him is the key to curing all their ails. That's what I was responding to. I'm not giving Giroux a pass, I just believe that he's still part of the solution.

(and he kinda has to be b/c NMC)

There are tons of players who started in the NHL at 19 that weren't generational players. I believe Couturier started in the NHL as a 19 year old.

Obviously, you're very wrong.

- MJL

No offense but no one said they can’t. I said they shouldn’t. So no I’m not wrong. Unless generational no reason to be in nhl that young almost everyone of them aren’t physically or mentally mature for the league to excel. Coots is prime example. Yes he played right away. Many say his development probably would’ve been excelled by playing in jrs more. Just because they can play doesn’t mean they should. Raise the draft age and that mostly taken care of.

Oh and also many a players careers never panned out from being brought up too early and too young. But yeah I’m wrong.
