G -Hayes - Konecny
Laughton - Couturier - Aube-Kubel
JVR - Grant - Vorachek
Raffl - Thompson - Pitlick - Bayareaflyer
thats just it though. that lineup is basically only two lines deep at even strength. However you cut it with Giroux at wing. |

I would certainly be open to adding Gaudreau if we can dump some money in another move. I wonder what Calgary’s asking price would be. - hereticpride
Him and Hayes together could be fun. |

That’s who I had in mind to pair him with honestly. I wonder if Ghost and a prospect or pick could get it done. |

Im sure they wont trade him for food stamps but gotta think his price is at an all time low. Im hoping the Sabers are in on him or Monahan as their fans are dumping all over those 2.

Have you checked how sharply that dude's playoff stats drop off relative to his reg season stats? |

I would love to have Monahan on this team. Guy is like Coots but with added offense. |

Right now it looks like the semitank from Hex, gave us mediocre players at best. Hart could be the exception. Frost look like a giant Turkey from HeX, same with JVR - Landsbergfan
A bigger problem the aging core of G, JVR, Voracec, A Mac, Weise, VDV, Grant and Tombstone |

If you're ripping Giroux for his postseason play, why would you want Gaudreau? |

You probably have a better hockey IQ than me, so I will not debate the eye test. Plus, its subjective.
What advanced stats do you mean? Don't point out raw stats. Point out relative to rest of team, and relative to Braun-Ghost in this series. - PT21
Here’s one for you.
Hagg/Braun's pair had a xGF @ 5v5 of 6% last night. Individually, Hagg was at 14%. The other 2 pairs were both over 40% as were the other 4 D
I’d sit Braun as Ghost/Hagg have played better than Ghost/Braun. You also have to factor in the following:
Ghost has a much better chance of making that one play that might lead to a goal and he provides another good option for the pp and any 4 on 4 situations.
AV’s reluctance to sit Braun because he has “veteran experience” is just foolhardy. |

Younger, faster, and honestly better than most of the options we have. |

Fair enough, but that could be because they were more often with the 4th line.
How about HDCA relative to the other pairs?

There is an elephant in the room here, and it might be too early to point it out because we are only down by 1 game.
During the Hextall years, we ranged from mediocre to sucky, and generally drafted well. I personally thought we should have sucked more and guys like Filippula and JVR should not have been signed but whatever. I understand lot of the Flyers base is dead set against tanking.
When Hextall was fired, there was a school of thought that the plug was pulled too early, and the team was not ready to compete yet. The largely magical regular season completely changed that, and we thought that the team was actually a lot closer than what we thought.
Playoff are a completely different beast from regular season and the first is all that matters, really. What if it has nothing to do with being dads and being rusty and what if Hextall was correct and the plug was pulled too early? - PT21
Pulled the plug too early? What were we going to draft another guy at 14 instead of 16-20ish? Jvr was not a great signing the day the ink dried but guys like filpula were not an issue in the slightest. |

I think maybe I’d rather see Ghost with Friedman. Really if they don’t manage to play less defense and take it to them, it won’t make a big difference. Fresh legs that didn’t play last night could help though.

Guys like Filipula prevented that #14 pick from turning into a top 10 pick. |

I would be surprised and disappointed if Ghost does not play today. Plan A clearly has not worked. We have to gamble. |

Yea, flyers look like the slowest team in NHL. After the Hab and the half finished Isles series. |

Please inform us how his 33 point season prevented us from getting a top 10 pick. Would love to hear this |

Why are guys hyping getting Johnny Hockey? I mean, doesn't this team already have enough guys that look great in the regular season only to do the old vanishing act come playoff time. |

I said guys like Filpulla, not in isolation. And I really referred to the general philosophy where we sucked, but not sucked hard enough.
If you like, I can expand the domain: we should have traded Voracek for prospects at that stage instead of giving him a huge contract.

Yea not sure why he would ever be mentioned, a small undersized forward, that’s what we want to get us over the hump in playoff hockey? He’s not Danny B and is a guy that struggles in the playoffs as is. |

Shades of that series against the Sens and the Sabres in early/mid 2000s. |

Do that and maybe end up like the leafs? Or Edmonton? There is no right way to do it. I don’t think the flyers are in a bad spot, had the season not gone the way it has and finished normally I think we would be doing quite well. |
