Wonder if Moose or MDC get another look? So strange that against a Philly team that Ross is not needed. - ses111

Leo was friggin horrific yesterday. I would not be surprised to see Johnston get a game and Leo a seat. - niteislander
Of course he was. Bailey 2.0. How does a coach like Barry play him game after game? |

This from the flyers thread
Today @ 10:47 PM ET
Well this series is in its vegetative state. Family and friends can come in and pay their respects before we yank the plug Tuesday night
- Upstate_isles
I saw this too. Feggin hilarious.
this series is one hell of a coaches battle. Trotz and Vin kept adjusting and the teams executed, for the most part. I believe this is why we saw big swings in performance from both teams. 1 period, one team would dominant, the next period it was the other team.
But this last game is hard to figure. The skaters were mostly inconsistent, but Griess and Elliot made some great saves to keep both teams in it. If the Flyers had gotten their top forwards clicking, this would probably be 3-1, Flyers.
If the Isles expect to advance and do well against Tampa (probably), they will need to up their play 2 notches. Tampa is a different team this year and their offense no longer gets derailed by a strong defense. |

The Islanders aren’t allowing The Flyers offense to get going.
The difference in Tampa this year is they are playing team defense first vs trying to win with offense.
Do you think Trotz needs to shake up the lines if they move to the ECF to get the offense going JS? |

I will agree with Bailey and Eberle. Nelson isn't the offensive player some think he is, but he IS what a second line Center should be, productive, and responsible. My gripe with Bailey is that he always looks for the pretty pass instead of shooting, or the lazy pass away from him, to avoid contact, or the short pass instead of just clearing the zone. His talent is there, but it seems like he's a kid in an adult game at times...it's so frustrating - cdn_Isles_fan
Overall I've been 'okay' with Bailey's play during these playoffs however, it's been sort of a microcosm of his career, I think. It's an interesting thing with him because the great plays he occasionally makes add to the frustration on the stupid plays he makes. He's always been this sort of an enigma who has great vision and natural talent but comes and goes in periodic streaks. He'll go several games where it looks like he's had an epiphany on offensive philosophy and then he'll fade away to being invisible for a while. I've mentioned before that I think scouts really nailed it when they described a pre draft Bailey as an extremely talented second line center that may lack the intensity to ever realize his full potential.
There are some players who are loaded with talent that never become elite players, while others with that same level of talent do. The difference is tenacity and intensity.
There has always been two very distinct camps with Bailey; the 'eye test' people tend to focus on his missed opportunities and turnovers, while the analytics-based folks point to his corsi numbers.....I think the truth with Bailey lies somewhere in between.
I've definitely been a huge Bailey critic over the years, largely because I think his inability to realize his full potential is all because of his lack of overall intensity. In fact, I think Cpt and I were really the first one's here that started the "Anti-Bailey" comments several years ago. That said, I think it's time we accept Bailey for what he is: A talented contributor who, when paired with talented players, can help create opportunities with the occasional hiccups. He'll never be a top line player or game changer and it was probably unfair that anyone ever expected him to be that. He's just not that type of guy, but he's been a career Islander who has been through some tuff years. There have certainly been plenty of positive moments from him as well, many of which will leave you wondering why he doesn't 'do that' more often |

These playoff has been the best of Bailey no question keaner. He will always be a frustrating type of player. It makes it easier to take when Bailey is producing points like he has been. |

Had to read about them over and over and over again.
Hurts when the girls club on here were wrong
Seems Lou’s shat signings seem to have worked with the structure and culture Trotz Insists on playing.
I love going back to the BD forum and read the comments when I’m having a bad day. The comic relief is priceless!
Here’s a beauty
“The people who can't look far enough ahead to clear the end of their nose will beat the "but it takes up hardly any cap space" drum and will be the same idiots that get angry when Oliver Wahlstrom can't get a roster spot because talentless fuc kbags like Mayfield, Pelech, Komarov, Martin, Clutterbuck, Cizikas, and Ross Johnston all need a spot because they make too much money to bury in the AHL.” |

Maybe
Here’s another
Which Hockey Buzz GM For $200:
l]I'm not jumping off a cliff but I am saying it's a completely stupid pointless move. There's literally nothing positive about it. It makes no sense like every other signing and trade Lameriello has made so far |

Heres another quote:
]“That’s always an asset when you have cap space,” Lamoriello said. “We’re not going to spend it recklessly by any means. I like to say we have a five-year plan that changes every day. You make signings to progress, trades as well but you also need intangibles to progress. That’s how you construct the team. I don’t think you’re ever a complete team but I’m satisfied and comfortable where we are now as far as putting a competitive team on the ice.”
He just might have known what he was doing, maybe? |

Very important news - eichiefs9
As well as these guys are playing right now it will be interesting to see how guys like Olliver, Bellows, MDC, and Holmstrom find a way into the line-up in the future. It will not be easy..

I always liked Mayfield b/c of his allegedly insane work ethic..Everyone around the Islanders organization talked about how hard the guy works. I had not heard them talk about a player working as hard as him since Chara.. When a guy works that hard and is his size you gotta think there is a decent shot he works out ok. (I did not see him getting to this level by the way.. kid played 20 minutes last night, had sickest pass of game to Pags and then ate the puck for final 15 seconds.. amazing).
so I know it's not me. Still feel the same about Leo by the way.
I love Casey... Him being back in line-up with Pageau now playing 3C is huge. If we can win one more game.. no one will ever talk about Pageau signing in a bad way again. - niteislander
It’s because they play as a team and all the pieces fit and know their job and are executing. |
