If Quinn doesn't change the D strategy to start bodying people up at the blue line he isn't going to make it at this level. When you have a goalie who handles the puck as well as Shesty does you force the other team to dump the puck in as often as possible so that he can retrieve it and send it right back out.
I can maybe understand not committing to that with Henrik back there but Shesty is like Brodeur or Turco 2.0 - Maskdman3
Yeah, I just think it would be tough for the D to switch systems depending on the goalie. With Shesty hopefully playing the majority of the games next year, it should help the system tremendously. At least thats what i'm hoping |

Yeah to clarify, I think the system should be overhauled based on Shesty being the #1 guy moving forward rather than change based on who is in net. The system might not be as effective when the backup plays but the system should be built for the 60 games plus playoffs that Shesty should be playing. |

Perhaps the hiring of JM answers that. |

Yeah...I don't get that. Habs are now committed to $15M on goal tending. Not sure what this is about. It's a sure salary dump for St. Luis, but what are the benefits for Montreal? Something amiss with Price? |

Hank returning to NY for kids start of school year. So much for retiring in order to play in the SHL. |

I mean they literally had like a thousands draft picks this year so sending a 3rd is no big deal and they have plenty of cap space
it's just weird
and I assume the Blues getting rid of Jake has something to do with getting Pietrangelo signed but Binnington looked shaky in playoffs and then he's a UFA himself after this season
maybe a landing spot for Georgiev in a deal? |

well even if they took half of Hank's salary, that's the amount of money Jake Allen was making in the first place
Georgiev will definitely get less than that |

Blueshirt banter have a couple of interesting names for LHD targets..Dumolin and Chycrun. Obviously trades, but both would be great partners for Trouba. They’d have a great top 4.
Dumolin is probably a top 5 defensive defenseman in the league. Very underrated. No offense but we really wouldn’t need that |

I am telling you get excited. We are trading for a 2nd line Center and a 2nd pair LH defenseman this offseason. Dream away TJ |

problem is if they trade for someone like Chychrun, and they still have Tony D
then they have 4 D they have to protect in expansion draft and you can only protect 3
as of now they'll have to protect Trouba, Tony D and Lindgren

They have to make a trade. They have so much excess on the wings now, and bigger needs |

They have one of the top 5 farm systems in the league. They don't have to trade it all but they have excess prospects, picks and young players where they can get creative in how they acquire these players to add to the core |

Since this blog is about the Rangers having enough in Miller/Lundqvist, etc. on D, then I'm going with "yes, the Rangers have enough in the system". I don't want any big trades in 2020 (at the very least no D trades) and make summer of 21 the time for big moves. I think they'll be more action then with a clearer cap picture and the expansion draft providing opportunities, as well. |

I kind of think the other way a little bit. Not that I want a huge trade but with the uncertainty in the cap going forward maybe now is the time to try a pry a player the Rangers really want away from the team. The fear of a flat cap and uncertainty in future income for teams may make them more eager to move someone now |

That's true, but it also applies to the Kings, as well. Plus, they've got $20 million in cap space and another $10 million coming off the books each of the next 2 years! If they decide to be players in the trade market, I could see them outbidding or driving the price up for the Rangers. Just a thought as we see how things play out. |

I get that. My question would be: how do the Rangers fit them under the cap both A) now and B) down the road if it's a long term deal they're acquiring? Unless the trade is a no brainer, or for a player with a short contract, I'm not seeing anything that really makes sense for them to get. |
