Tyler- I'll just echo the sentiments of everyone else on here. Thanks for all of your great blogs, and thank you especially for creating and maintaining an atmosphere where everyone felt welcome to contribute, even people like myself who don't know as much about the sport (but still love the Hawks).
Theo- I have always enjoyed your contributions on this board, and on Twitter as well. I'm looking forward to your tenure here.
Best of luck to you both. |

Good luck in all of your future endeavors Tyler. I enjoyed your objectivity to the team while still finding things to be positive about constantly. Thank you for the great reading material on my favorite team and sport!
Theo, I have enjoyed your updates on the prospects, and look forward to your first blog. I have no doubt you will continue the great atmosphere and objectivity that Tyler got going here. Congratulations! - ToewsdNKanefusd
This is exactly how we all must feel as the baton is passed to Theo
The task to provide and then also interact with reader posts is time consuming and I'm sure sometimes even somewhat draining. Answering the bell each column with a wide range of personalities and issues is a job itself
I feel like with Theo navigating the good ship Blackhawk - which is to say steering through the isses and attitude which has always been inherent sooner or later in the posts - there is going to be made mention from the get go No more politics.
If it doesn't have a direct link to the hockey issues, the administrator will delete it. Now i surmise mentioning the best food or some other topics can be reigned but myself as one whom has been part and parcel with politics - I am expecting and welcoming strict enforcement of the no politics.
I would expect the political posts get deleted and a strike one warning. Strike two is a temporary ban. I am not saying this should be the rules exactly, just expect that Theo will be handing down the rules. Which comes actually from the site moderators |

A couple of player notes from various sources:
According to Ek (take that for what it is): Thomas Greiss' stock has risen and Chicago is said to be an interested party.
Ben Pope:
Kubalik - will get to train/skate with Plzen (I believe managed by Martin Straka?), to keep in shape and further develop his skillset, but will not play in games:
Dach: Will take a few weeks off and then start training with Kane's trainer in order to get stronger. He wants to add strength intelligently so that he can improve his game without becoming too stiff and bulky. Winning board battles, developing a harder shot, and improving puck control were the three biggest goals.
Boqvist: “I want to be stronger in my upper body and legs,” he said. “My biggest thing is to be able to handle guys in the corner. I’m really going to work on that.”
His top priority, though, is improving his conditioning.
“[I want] to be able to play 20 minutes per game, play a big role,” Boqvist said. “[And] to be able to play 82 games, as well. Last year, I got tired during the year and didn’t play my best hockey. But I have a good few months here before the season starts to work on that.”

It gets me excited to see these young guys all in on improving themselves. Bodes well for the short term future of the Hawks!

I think we got a steal with Dach (as much as a #3 overall can be a steal). He has the drive. I'm hopeful for Boqvist. I think he will be a good one once he can anticipate plays better.
Unrelated: I think Strome is as good as gone. |

Good info, Chunk!
I like that operative word "intelligently" that Dach used about gaining muscle and strength. It was wondered (still is?) if DeBrincat wasn't intelligent about adding muscle and strength last off season.
Maybe DeBrincat was smart about it but we're all still trying to figure out why he had a sharp decline in goal production.
And I like what Boqvist has to say about both game and season endurance. Derek King often talks about building up prospect stamina once they go pro.
A healthy scratch doesn't always mean poor play but is a way to slowly break in the prospects for the long haul and preserve their bodies. |

I would think the same seeing as how Dach has improved faster than anticipated, so far at least. They even tried Strome on the wing, which didn't seem to work out, so I don't really see a place on the team for him. We can easily find a better 3rd line center...well maybe I shouldn't say easily...

I think Debrincat was/is working on other areas of his game so much, that it took away from his sniping a bit?? Like puck protection/handling.
I like that he is trying to be a complete player, but at what point do you decide that you can't do it all, and decide to stick to the niche that got you there?
