With the Habs getting Jake Allen I am going to throw a wild pitch out there.

Montreal trades Max Domi and Carey Price to Pittsburg (who have no goalies under contract next year ) for Malkin and Murray or Jarry.

Do you honestly see Price being moved? Domi maybe...

I heard rumblings prior that Habs want to move Price for contract reasons only . You read enough sh1t and some sticks .

The fact that they went out and got a second starter (Allen) fuels the rumor fire . 15 Mil for a goalie tandem is insane for a bottom team so yeah I think there is something behind the rumors.

i don't see pitt trading malkin. their trade with toronto showed they're making a last run with geno/sid. i don't think they'd get rid of either one even with a big name coming back.

oh and i agree with you that mtl [edit] will might move price. i think both player and team want it.

Interesting. I thought Allen's starting days were behind him.

Malkin has been on the rumor mil for two years . Maybe after their early exit to the Habs they get their goal tending and a younger center with Domi.

I can see them trying to move Price, but I don't think Pitts will move Malkin, especially for that return. Montreal would have to add a 1st or two to make it happen.

23 starts for Jake Allen in playoffs with an average of 2.06 goals per game and a saving percentage of .924%. Performing well under pressure.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Habs would also take back Murray or Jarry who are RFAs 25 and 26 years old ready to be starters.

I think you are close . There are countless possibilities . I can't see Hughes OJ and Rathbone all LHD though.

Toffoli EP JTM
Pearson Bo Boeser
Motte Sutter Leivo
Lind Gauds /Beagle / Zack

Hughes Tanev
Edler McAvoy
OJ Myers
Benn

Gone Loui

Traded Jake Demko for McAvoy (or similar) or draft picks

Roussel Tryamkin Sven to MTL for anything

- VANTEL

I can't see the Canucks going in to next season with Sutter AND Beags. One of them has to go. I would rather keep Sutter, but he has a higher cap hit and more value. Trading Beagle would be harder, and we would probably have to sweeten a deal to move him.

I think it addresses both teams . Montreal needs a center and are not happy with Domi and Pittsburg needs to get younger and better goal tending.

Montreal may need to add something like Cole Caulfield or something but the top names fit and money wise also.

just from an entertainment point of view, i'm hoping there will be some big trades like this (for cap and hockey reasons) in the offseason.

i'm hoping it's "let's make a deal," league wide. it'll keep us all entertained!

This is not aimed at you or anyone but put money aside and make your decisions. I know the Vancouver market likes to talk about it but let's leave it to the people in charge.

I stick to the Canucks will finish out Sutter's contract. He again has shown he can be used in many ways and for a team that could compete next year you want a utility guy on your team. He also provides leadership.

Next I am still not sold on Gauds. He has been in and out of the lineup these playoffs and if you are 100 % certain he is who you want then sure you can even buy out Beagle and get 1.6 cap relief this year and 600 K next year. I am not confident that Gauds is ready full time so I don't mind keeping the experienced Beagle.

Everyone has a different view of players and the team over all. I see it as one of 7 teams still in the running for this years cup.

I think Canucks will find more money above their 17 mil in moving Sven , LTIR from Ferland and more than likely moving Loui. I also think Roussel is playing his last few games as a Canuck.

I think the spots they need to address are RHD x one , replacing Ferland , and locking down the 3C spot.

That is my opinion

It will be a trading bonanza because of flat cap and expansion.

Here is a scenerio:

Marky gets 6x4(NTC), we trade Sutter in order to afford TT and Tanev. We use JV and some kind of pick/prospect to upgrade Stetcher(Myers becomes a future problem with cap hit). Demko and Marky split the season and when the expansion happens, we cap dump the last year of LE and maybe Beagle in exchange for leaving Marky exposed(and w/e else we add to that).

Demko becomes our starter after next season and we sign a solid vet to back him up.

What if you went Roussel Tryamkin's rights and Sven to Montreal for a 7 th . You are now dumping 6.4 mil and keeping Sutter as insurance.

You are on the right track with your post . Lots of possibilities.

Ouch on waste of assets just to get rid of 1 year of Sven. Roussel is still an effective player not a cap dump need and could be traded straight up or with a little retention.

I wonder whether the Montreal Canadiens will try Jake Allen at forward or defense first, because there’s no way a team would be willingly spending $15M on the goaltending position alone

Are you referring to the unsigned Tryamkin as the waste of assets?

It gets rid of one year of Sven, and the rest of Rous' contract. It leaves a spot open for Hoglander or Lind as well.

I would definitely make that kind of trade.

I get the possibilities and there will be a lot on the market because of the new NHL reality. Straight cap dumps will cost more then ever.

After this playoff performance don't see JB wanting to move players now unless he has too. He made a lot of moves to put this chemistry together.

JB's not signing anyone until he deals with his top UFA's and removing LE.
