So twitter definitely mis-used that quote I shared. The question was about coming back 3-1. He mentioned guys like G and JVR have done it before and name dropped other guys who have too (Nate Thompson) and said they will need to put the same big boy pants on they had when they made their own comebacks.

This very well may be the last game for a long time, uncertain how and when next season gets started.

In this series unfortunately for the Flyers, the young players have looked a little unseasoned and the vets for the most part have not been close to their best.

Lots of positives on this team though. Hart looks like the real thing in goal. I think Phillip Myers has top pair potential and may replace Niskanen sooner then most expect and pair with Provorov. It’s been a good learning experience for Farabee and Sanheim, both are going to get much better.

It’s a shame Couts, G, and TK have underperformed. Also give the Isles credit, they play their system to perfection and have some underrated players and Barzal who is a top talent.

I hear the calls to break up the core, but doubt that G, Jake and Couts are going to be traded anytime soon.

I do think Ghost may be traded but not much else.

Wow, it's worse than I thought. Your reply to me was this

"Just like his description earlier of what ghost hasn’t brought. "

No it's not just like that. For these very simple reasons. Gostisbehere has been an established NHL player. Gostisbehere has actually played and been in the lineup very recently. Whereas Frost has never been an established NHL players and has not played an NHL game in 5 1/2 months.

Nobody is hanging on to one or two good year. At least not in my case. I've seen Gostisbehere play recently. I'm not expecting him to be the player that he was when he first came up. I have seen him still have the ability to beat a forechecker and move the puck quickly up to a forward. As well as being able to evade a forecheck and skate the puck up. He also has been a willing shooter of the puck. While we cannot guarantee how well Gostisbehere will play, we are badly in need of those elements to try and create transition play.

- MJL

You still don’t understand. No worries. You told him to look at what bill wrote about why frost isn’t a viable candidate. You want ghost in and for reasons. Bill Had a write up of the type of player ghost is. And again. Hasn’t provided that offense.

Willing to shoot. Yes. Does he hit the net? How many are blocked? You say you don’t want to be in the defensive zone. So he can pass better but he gets muscles off the puck and can’t tie up players. He lost his role on this team. He did.
High scoring offensive teams that control the puck is what wins. Weird Tampa hasn’t won the last 5 years. I imagine Boston should win every year as well. Weird I know.

Well maybe your right. We won’t be defending as much bc after a goal it goes to center ice. Ghost can just look lost in the d zone. The game he had against Montreal was prob his best in a long time. Not saying much though. Also a driver of offense. His stats tell a different story. The offense needs to step up first.

But you have hope right. That’s been your story with ghost all year. I hope he does this. I think he is trending. He did this well but. He is a defender is a one trick pony almost. He is what he is. And that is not a first or second line defender anymore. Not sure he ever was.

What he's doing is he is challenging the top players on the team in a diplomatic way.
- MJL

That's not diplomatic dude.

I think if you are expecting big changes going into next season you are going to be disappointed. A lot of their high priced players have contracts that will be extremely difficult to move. Perhaps if they are willing to take a bad contract back as a change of scenery type deal.

The upgrades hopefully will be a healthy Lindblom and Patrick replacing Grant & Thompson.

- PLindbergh31

Provided they ARE healthy, that is two substantial upgrades.

If we are down 3 in the third I want someone to take a cheap shot at Clutterbuck, that knee on knee with sanheim was on purpose and such a scumbag move

Move the puck out of our d-zone. That’s been the Achilles heel the entire series. If you can’t clear the zone against the isles, you will not beat them. Caps couldn’t figure out, and obviously Flyers aren’t faring much better. I’m expecting us to lose tonight, but I hope I’m wrong.

Bill’s opinion does have a ton of merit, but that doesn’t mean that the Flyers might not go down that path.

There are two counteracting forces tonight. Teams that are down by 2-3 and dominated often come up with a token, face-saving win. On the other hand, the fact that they played such a desperation 2nd period and gave it their all and still lost means likely they are done.

I think they need to head into the 3rd at least 2-3 goals up to have a chance.

The Islanders haven't won four games yet, so it's not too late.

I appreciate the optimism but the Flyers can't give 3 straight periods of quality hockey, why would anyone expect 3 straight wins?

hoping they go down swinging. Truth, Grant and Thomspon while nice additions in the regular season they have not been during the playoffs. Needless to say G and the gang needed to step up but depth was an issue.

Which I do hope he reflects next season accordingly. Exit interviews might interesting this week :-)
Vets cannot live on their past success anymore. It is about business and me as a fan demand after 8 mediocre seasons improvements. Pitty that Giroux's best years were wasted here, but we need to make the right moves and address this.

Giroux isn’t as bad as people make him out to be. Honestly if anything he’s underrated, he’s not a flashy player but on paper stat wise he’s solid. Almost similar to Barkov and how he’s over looked too.

Underrated? We must not be watching the same games right now. He’s been pretty much useless outside of the face off dot.

I’m talking big picture not just this post season. Yes this post season he has been quiet but he has been performing the other parts of his game okay. All 5 of his assists in this post season were primary assists. He’s making the right plays he just can’t find the back of the net. It sucks to be in a drought at this time between G and TK being silent goal wise it kills us.
