For the record, I don't know either. I'm just a guy behind a keyboard. But it is fun to read everyone's opinions and formulate your own!

Even the top NHL scouts will have their share of misses. In that regard, they are like meteorologists.

Just be careful, Theo not to awake the sleeping giant in me with your political meteorologist remark.
I said before I never frequent local vending g of nighttime news or ANY of the 24 hour ones, BUT the WEATHER Channel is what we wake up to, and I love each and everyone of these guys because they are all smart science based and basically nerds with the weather changes , storms etc.
Even though I sometimes think they are far too "excited/elated" by the upcoming possible radical weathers situations, I like them all because they try so hard to explain the things they are passionate about...so BACK off!

Regula could surprise as a balanced defender. As long as he's groomed to be a 200-foot player who thinks defense first especially with his size, reach, and skating ability.

As Boqvist stated himself and like what nearly every other D prospect needs to do, Regula can realize his potential if he works on his strength so he has the fortitude to battle in the corners, behind the net, and in the slot.

- Theo Fox

I want each of these kids to get time and the present state of affairs might have us wait on that.
I love that Regula players the bumper on the London power play like #37 on the Bruins does for them....
this means he is a quick net front presence, and anchors nicely and has found the pucks there in close. Maybe I want to see that sooner than I want to expect all these defenders to seamlessly transition to NHLers, because even though it sometimes works that way, it doesn't always work that way.

Ranking mean diddle until we find a way of getting a group iced, experienced, and showing as a group but I gotta feeling they dont want a rush job for the rest of the kid defenders.

I actually have Weather Channel on TV in my hotel room whenever I travel. Or used to travel that is. Not sure when I'll be on business trips again.

And even though I find Tom Skilling overly verbose, I always watch WGN for my local Chicago weather. Preferred Jim Ramsey, though.

Strome won't bring anywhere near that in trade.
- rpeters01

Oh I agree, however I did mention that we could add on. Like HD I too was high on Strome, but now we have to look at other options for 3C, we need more defense and more speed from our 3C.

Not Dennis Gilbert.

Guys with really good boots, and sticks and offensive abilities and toughness.

Just take a look at the teams still in it and you will see all the team have more than one to go with their smaller defenders...

besides being a good balanced skater (and Gilbert is that) but Corey's idea his foot speed (NHL calibre he says) is what helps you win in the playoffs, I say look at the way the sport now is so connected to shadowing leaning and still being part of the integral five man attack rotations you have to have a accurate hard shot and wherewithal TO know when to walk up...
hell it is going to be a new age in the kids at dee all will relish it but you still see these big boys on the teams still in it who are nit slouches at jumping up after shadowing and working around their house first.

- wiz1901

I was being semi sarcastic, he basically said find a bonefide NHL Defenseman in the middle rounds. Gilbert was drafted 90th and he's a stay at home type. If it were only that easy

Is it gonna rain or snow?

What’s the temperature range likely to be?

That’s all I need to know from the weather reports.

For those that watched the playoffs Saad was very noticeable. We need to keep Saad and add on. Like it was mentioned earlier on this board(Chunk?), Strome has talent but just does not fit this team, especially with the emergence of Dach. So Strome has to be dangled for a good return, either a good Dman or a top six forward needs to come back, we can add to Strome if need be.
- Angotti

I hope he fetches a very good young player, i doubt it though

If Strome is moved (or not resigned). 3C center options:

Erik Haula - UFA - coming off a 3 yr $2.75 mil cap hit.
Radek Faksa - RFA - coming off a 3 yr $2.2 mil cap hit
Derrick Brassard - UFA - coming off a 1 yr $1.2 mil cap hit

Kahun is RFA. What will his next contract be for? Will Buffalo offer him $2 mil per year for 2 or 3 years? Less? More? Should the Hawks offer $2mil per year and give up a 3rd round pick?

I am pretty sure the hawks will not have the luxury of spending on outside adds.

I am most curious as to how the goalie shopping goes for all the teams who signs where.

Haula can't stay healthy and his last knee injury was really bad.
Faksa is a huge meh for me. He has he is on another team syndrome. Rather see what they have in Suter or keep Strome for that amount. Not a huge fan of Strome but he is still young and maybe he adds some heft. He needs to bulk up to be more effective with his skating

Brassard is a huge no.

While I'm not holding my breath on it, Shaw coming back as 3C is probably the best overall result (being that we can't really trade him and they will have to count him against the cap before the season starts.

Honestly, I hope the Hawks' management, medical staff and team leaders sit Shaw down and explain to him he has nothing to prove to anyone. He has made way more money than I bet he ever imagined and with 2 young kids at home, its time to think of his future health and take LTIR for this season and hang them up.

Plus he’s got over $5.5MM cash (less escrow) coming to him for the next two seasons.

But - from a Blackhawk standpoint - putting Shaw on LTIR is only minimally helpful for next season. The Hawks have to be compliant with the cap including his salary before the first game - meaning they can’t add any FAs or make deals taking on salary until the season starts - which probably means no adds using Shaw space intel the TDL (whenever that is).

Unless, of course, something changed that I haven’t heard about.

Given their tightness to the cap - and that I don’t expect Rocky to pay out buyout money with such dramatically declining revenues - and that most of the league is in a similar situation....

I don’t expect important trades or FA signings, I expect they will resign their own RFAs to short term deals, and any changes will be from within.

In other words - what we saw this season is what we’ll be looking at next season.

Hopefully, Dach and Boqvist take a step up, AdB and Strome take a step back to what they’ve shown before, etc., etc., etc....

They shouldn't be signing any FAs anyway. I don't want them trading for salary. Play the kids. I am ready for the rebuild to accelerate. There are enough vets on the team. There is no need to add "vet leadership".

You sure worry about Wirtz' money an awful lot. What has he done since taking over the Hawks that money is a main concern of Rocky? Every year their expenditure has exceeded the cap limit. You do know that buy outs actually cost less money, right?

it was done to stop coaches being frivolous with reviews. like that one. Not sure what AV was looking at there. It was clear as day that Czikas tripped over Braun's stick and there was nothing he could do to get out of the way.
